Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    HELP: Code 9/Misfire

I start the car and start driving. Upon normal acceleration it bogs (misfires) between 2000 and 4000 RPM. Sometimes right away, sometimes after like a minute of driving. After it bogs, the engine light comes on, and it starts driving all fine, and drives flawlessly as long as the light is on. The CEL is throwing a code 9 (Cylinder Sensor). I assume that it's almost like a misfire sensor?

I replaced my spark plugs, checked the distributor cap, rotor, and wires. I don't wanna start replacing injectors and fuel pumps yet. Maybe you guys have any ideas?

    Please Help!

(JDM H22A motor, external MSD Blaster coil, new MSD wires, new NGK plugs)

Did this randomly happen? Or did it happen after you did something with the distributor? Your igniter could be going bad. Try switching that out first.

This has nothing to do with ECU tuning btw.

This just randomly happened. But 4-5 weeks after I converted to external (MSD) coil.

Anyhow, the other day I borrowed my friend's throttle body and TPS to test on my car.... same problem. Then I took out the igniter out of the distributor and went to test it at a local parts place.... it passed. So then I borrowed his ECU (also a chipped P28) and the car runs fine, no misfire no code. Except his car is tuned for NOS and it's obviously a different air/fuel curve/map so I was kinda sketchy driving with his ECU even though it was only for 10 minutes. It ran lean and I didn't want detonation.

The guy that burned my chip for my P28 is burning me a new chip on Wednesday, but other people told me it might be the ECU itself and not the chip.

        ????
