The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

power increase from tuning your H22 with

Tuning your "H" with Hondata S200 and P28 ECU....should one see a great increase in power with a stock H22....or just a smoother running car?

I guess what I am saying is stock H22 with P13 ECU....and that vs stock H22 with P28 ECU and HONDATA

    is there a big difference?

You should get more power, the amount depends on the tuner, smoother running engine, and better gas mileage.

what are the different things a tuner can do is what I am wondering....more fuel dumped at certain points? ....I mean if you got an H already turning consistant 180 whp on the dyno....what else can the tuner pull out of it with out the car owner adding mild cams better intake manifold...CAI...etc...etc....

lil more fuel on bottom end and leaner up top not to mention timing

but then again, depends on what YOU want from it.... it can be tuned specifically for power, gas mileage, or in between for safe driving

Basically they adjust the air/fuel ratio to something that will burn almost completely, and thus make a more explosive reaction, creating more power.

cool guys thanks for the input......I think alot of people get caught up in the whole Hondata P28 craze and then expect alot of big changes from a tune!

It is only a craze because it works. If you want cheaper find someone to tune with either Uberdata or crome, that software is free.

Free is the name of the game. I've been running crome on chipped p28's for a long time now. I've had the greatest luck with simply leaning the whole map out. I had one map where the timing was set just right and moved the whole powerband up to where it pulled to 9500. All the while getting 32mpg

from the factory, MOST hondas are too rich and leaning them out will net a few HP. also, they always set the vtec crossover LATE so that the power dips right before and then it hits hard and feels like something special. it's actually quicker if you set the crossover around 4600rpm on the h22a, something like .2 seconds in the 1/4 mile. it is smoother and won't FEEL as fast but is faster.

the p13 SUCKS. the oem honda knock sensor also sucks. simply doing away with those 2 things and getting a chipped p28 makes a huge difference.

by taking one with a chipped p28, leaning it out properly, changing the vtec xover point and getting the cams dialed in, you should be able to get 10-12hp and another 2-4mpg. you'll also be noticeably quicker

the point I am trying to make is ( or question presented)....P28 and Hondata (s200) doesnt automatically equal ~ 20 more or so HP and a quieter car and just over the top awesome performance IMO....running against another Honda Accord same setup(H22) with a stock P13 instead...on the street...not the track....just dont think you will see that big a difference

now thats just me..I started this thread because I hear so many different things from different people with the P28 Hondata set up

now maybe with full throttle shift and launch control.....running against one with out that....yeah quite the difference on take off I suppose (I have seen first hand.....full throttle shift is the shit!)

also last question...you are saying (in one of the responses) that it depends on the tuner and how you want it.....if you tell them I want more low end power then they can do that....as for the person that said they can tach up to 9500 (moved up powerband)and still get 31 or so miles per gallon on the highway...WHAT......no way really?

is this with stock cams or a mild upgrade?

with stock internals....still pulling at 9500 rpm???? usually H crap out around 7200 as far as gaining power or hp...or am I wrong here....I guess with a good tune anything is possible is what I am gathering from the responses here!

price aint the issue.....just wanna get my facts straight....from people that know....I am taking notes on all these responses...thanks for the input

what I meant about craze is that P28/Hondata dont equal miracles....I think people feel like its gonna make their car do stuff beyond belief....in reality...each engine if different..what the tune do for you may not do for me...

I've spent hours into days tuning my h22's. The one I have now was really lean with a very adjusted timing curve and I hard limited it at 9500 just to save the motor, but it was still pulling. Stage 1 crowers and a good header is all it has.
