Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Dual chip/Tune

Sorry for a possible retarted title

OK, i am a complete noob, at tuning, actually more like know nothing at all.

So here is my question. You can tune for power and fuel efficiency, and you can tune for each one separate. Is there a way that can set up like a dual tune, have one that is the complete best for gas mileage, and have one that is complete best for power?
So like on a DD you want the best milage, but when someone pulls up to you and wants to race, you can hit whatever switch and it switch's the tune/chip to full power. Or would you have to have two ecu's for that and run a switch for their power.

Also, if this is possible, the dual tune thing, Would you be able to control this through a vtec control or something like that?

I guess this could work. What you could do, I forgot who sells it, but basically it plugs into your ecu and you can run two chips, switching them with the flick of a switch. However, I think you should just tune once and for all. Generally, when you tune a car, you lean it a bit, so technically you should be getting better gas mileage right there. Really, economy is up to your right foot.

You're talking about the 2timer. It's a moates.net product. You can also buy it from xenocron.com

I've tried using one before, it didn't work for me. Maybe I did something wrong, but I don't find it worth the extra 30 bux, especially for what the OP wants it for.

You can tune for performance and gas mileage on the same map.

The only difference is, you won't have both all the time.

you can tune partial throttle for gas mileage, which in turn will lose you some power. But really, how often do you race in partial throttle?

You can tune WOT for performance.

most tuners never tune partial throttle because it takes too long to get it right. There's a lot of scenarios for one certain rpm, it's hard to get it perfect.
What they do is usually just leave it in closed loop, aka, leave your partial throttle maps alone and let the sensors do their job. They only touch the WOT parts of the map, which is where you get your performance from.
