Once again I have boost issues. need help plz!

As some of you know I have been working on my h23t on my prelude for a while now. It is a second car so I havent had the need to fix issues right away here is my current problem...

I drive the car and it blows oil out the compressor and smokes up the road really bad whenever i give more than 50% throttle. I am running -3 feed and -10 drain. no restrictor i just rebuilt my big16g also....

    my theories....
    1. i need a restrictor.
    2. i need a oil catch can cuz of crankcase pressure
    3. the turbo i have is junk and i need a new 1.

plz any insights are appreciated. I am very close to just selling the kit and going NA again. Please help me out

also if i get a restrictor would i get a 90* fitting to go on top of my turbo b/c theres no way it will fit. It would hit the manifold...

could be a number of things...i say eliminate them in order of whats easiest...

    1) add a catch can setup and make sure you are not blowing boost back into the crank case

    2) if you see no changed, i'd add a restrictor. You can get the stealmode one for 14 bux if they still sell it, and you can add it at the begining of your feed line if it wont fit by the manifold

    3) turbo seals

hows your compression on the cyl's btw?

I havent che3cked the compression...and for the catch can would i run the catch can to the valve cover and then manifold to the catchcan...someone said something about turbo inlet to catch can as well but I dont hve an intake on my turbo yet cuz it blows oil. thanks

i would say seals on the turbo are gone. It shouldn't be blowing oil. But the catch goes like this. Connect the breather to a vac line then tee it to the pvc opening on the valve cover then run that to the intake pipe on the turbo. I am getting ready to do this after i put in the new headgasket. But ya i would reccommend doing the intake pipe anyway even if it is blowing oil. But my bet is on the seals in the turbo

do you have an oil pressure gauge?
you might have too much pressure, and blowing past the seals.

is there any oil in your charge piping? thats a dead give away for blown turbo seals. make sure that your oil in is on top and oil return is on bottom. i know its dumb but that happen to me.

ya but I rebuilt the turbo with all new seals. Thats what I thought of originally thats why I got a full rebuild kit from gpopshop. I was contemplating getting a running 14b from someone and just bolting that up n seeing if that helps. I just think that would be last resort...The oil pressure gauge reads like 70 at some times. its usually between 25-75 maybe more.

damn 70 psi that crazy... try a reducer thing so not as much oil can go threw. if its still happing u blew ur seals again they blow easy man

                  isnt stock psi like 40

Get another oil pressure gauge and slap it on the oil inlet for your turbo to see what the pressure to the turbo itself is. If you're actually getting 70 to the turbo, the seals are gone.

You'll probably end up needing to rebuild it again, and use a restrictor this time.

ya im gonna get a restrictor for it and go from there. should i get the valve restrictor from stealthmode or the one from atp which is like a fitting with a pinhole?

i was seeing 100psi on cold start-ups. but nothing over 80 while driving once the engine was warmed up.

the restrictor from stealth looks pretty good especially since you can regulate the pressure. maybe someone w/ personal experience can chime in
