    h22a4 how much boost?? help

ok I know that the f22 blocks are better for boosting because of the cast iron sleeves( I did do some research). Just want to know how much boost am I safe at with a stock h22a4. I'm looking into buying an accord that has a h22a4 boost he made 284 whp on 8 psi. The only prob is the rings are going. So the guys is gonna give me a deal $2000 for the car its clean and that setup and tune for that price that's great. He knows someone that will put it the rings for me for $300. I just wanna make sure I don't mess up the motor after I have the rings done.

why do just rings? your getting the car cheap as it is you may as well get some mahl pistons and cheapy forged rods then crank the boost to what you really want! i see no point in pulling pistons and rods out of a car that is allready boosted and not going ahead and get some nice goodies youll enjoy in there.

Get a f22a block and throw the h22a head on it..easy solution..

Boost friendly compression (8:4:1) and a block that can be rehoned easily after it blows...

yeah I thought about putting the f22 block but that would require more labor. I will have to pay the guy extra to take the motor apart. If I just change the pistons he was just gonna take off the head and do it through the bottom and push the pistons out. How much does it cost for good pistons for the h22

put maybe just putting on the f22 block is the cheapiest way for me to do it now. When I get out of school in 4 weeks I could do it myself with my boy he has a engine picker. There's no way to change a block on a engine without taking out the whole motor right lol! jk how much can I boost at with the g22 setup 8 to 10 lbs save I would assume right

i'd assume 10 - 17 psi are good boost #'s for low compression

15psi daily all day..hell I ran 18psi thru a stock f22a...straightedge ran 20psi and made 400whp..not to say u should or can..but with the slightly lower CR..I can safely say 15psi will be reliable as hell..

How much you can push depends HIGHLY on the tune, as well as the size of the turbo(small = ).

H22's have been known to push up to 500whp stock. For how long no one knows, but I'm sure any stock motor wouldn't last long at those power levels as a daily. I'd say 350 as a daily would be just fine. Once again, depends on the tune.

dag I don't want to pass this deal up $2000 for a running cb with a h22 turbo tuned clean. I wish I had a good job

the f22 block is definatly a very economic way to. the only thing you have to worry about with the f22 block boosted is the ring lands breaking which is a very know weak point of the f blocks. it really depends on what your budget is but id still sugest at minimum some forged pistons for piece of mine and youll be good 350+ hp.

i agree keep the h22 block

invest in some Mahle Gold Series pistons either 8:1 compression or 9:1

and some forged rods with floating wrist pins.

I know there was a huge thread about the Mahle pistons and their reliablility on H-T, but I haven't read through it in a while so I don't know what the verdict is about running Mahles in an h22 as far as reliability is concerned. I understand that it's safer than the stock pistons for boost, but how much boost can the Mahle's really handle? Is it safe to just crank up the boost? This is considering that the car has been tuned well and everything is in good working order

the pistons should be good up to around 600-700 hp..
the reliabilty is great i had them in my h22 high compression motor.

so basically you'll then just have to worry about your h22 FRM sleeves, but i'd imagine 12-14 psi would be verry reasonably safe depending on your setup...
