For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    14b turbo wastegate

so im pretty much all ready for boost. Just double checking things before i go and take it for a drive.

I ran into a problem today when i double checked my wastegate actuator. I wanted to make sure it opens at the 7-8psi its supposed to before i find out the hard way and blow my motor. So I checked it out and turns out it doesnt completely open until 14psi!!! luckily i checked it before i drove it.

now i have searched forums and turns out i have to lengthen the actuator arm to lower the psi that the flappers open at....has anyone tried this before? what is the procedure, just weld another rod onto it? also what length? are there any other methods other than external wg?

    TIA for your help

Most of those rod type actuaries have a lock nut that will allow you to thread the actuator arm out a bit for fine tuning of boost levels.

Weighing the options....I would just sell that turbo and go buy another one off of ebay. There are plenty of perfectly running 14bs laying around for you to be stuck in that rut. Just my .02

I wished I could help , just cause your car looks like mine . I have some turbo's laying around the shop . Can you post a picture of what you're needing ? If I have something that might work , I'll mail it to you . I don't know if you want to wait that long or how long it will take to get to Canada , but if I can help I will .

is it a possibility that you could just bend the metal arm to lenghthen it

i beleive it has two bends slightly bend both of these to lengthen the bar but try to keep the overall shape

I did this to mine, and dsm turbos/wg actuators do not have the nut to alter the arm by default.

To lengthen it, unhook it from the wg, get some vice grips or pliers and bend it where the arm is already bent, and this will extend the arm if done in the proper direction. It will raise where it opens if you make it shorter. Also note this will result often times in the wg being open earlier and taking a smidge longer to build boost.

well i just finished bending the metal but still no luck. I still need it about 1'' longer and it comes in the way of the tturbo a little bit becuase it needs those bends.

I will try to lengten the arm now by welding a 1'' rod to it. Ill let u guys no how that goes
