well now he says it's not assembled, so I guess I couldn't do any test anyway, but it's fishy that he is selling it for so cheap

Please DO NOT Post In The General Section
From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.
The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.
For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.
Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.
Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

sleeved block question

I wouldnt suggest square decking the block if its been sleeved. Step decking is the prefered method of decking which leaves a small amount of the sleeve above the deck surface to aid in higher boost sealing.Originally posted by wed3k View Postit kinda doesnt matter if it is straight or not because it is still going to be square decked and bored.
but of course if it is not straight, they may have cracked the casting when they installed the sleeves.

it also depends on piston height as well.Originally posted by turbo90accord View PostI wouldnt suggest square decking the block if its been sleeved. Step decking is the prefered method of decking which leaves a small amount of the sleeve above the deck surface to aid in higher boost sealing.
boost sealing can come with a better headgasket, stronger bolts and of course true surfaces.

An oem head gasket, copper sprayed, should always be used with sleeves. Especially when boost is going to be present. Using what some concider a upgraded gasket that may not blow such as a solid copper gasket can cause more problems such as seriously blown engines or holes in pistons when the gasket should have gone instead due to the rise in cylinder pressure.Originally posted by wed3k View Postit also depends on piston height as well.

So I could pick this up for $1K. He posted a pic as well:
jdm obd1 block closed deck freshly sleeved. cast iron ductile sleeves. block has been machined for the sleeves. but the need to be glued and pressed in. one sleeve also needs to be cut still.block is bare with crank and mains. needs to be bored to match whatever pistons u want.
brand new wiseco pistons. they are 12 : 1 comp but one was milled down . so u can mill the other three or buy one new 12:1 or buy four new ones
brand new in box carrillo h beam rods
brand new federal mogule main and rod bearings
brand new cometic head gasket
brand new arp head studs
used str cam gears bronze in color
i have two complete heads and all the other stuff like oil pan water pump etc

I honestly would pass on that. Ive had alot of issues way back in the day buying blocks that were sleeved used or had not been finished used. Its a process that the machine shop really needs to do from start to finish. also cometic gaskets, though concidered an upgrade on some engine, are not the best to use in hondas and i would highly suggest running an OEM gasket over anything. This is a great deal for some of the stuff but to me it kinda looks like buying a 500 piece puzzle not realizing its missing 20 pieces and the having to buy a new puzzle to finish the job.

x2 on the gaskets. I don't like cometic, especially when under high boost. OEM ftw.
I'd buy it, just because it has pistons, rods, head studs and gears. All that stuff probably adds up to $1k US.
I wouldn't buy someone elses work. It's like buying someone else modded car. It sounds great at first, but you never know what surprises you might find along the way.

Yea but im always weary about not buying a complete matching set of pistons. Ordering one single piston can be a pain and can sometimes arrive out of spec to the other three pistons in size slightly or in weight.Originally posted by d112crzy View Postx2 on the gaskets. thats why you order a piston per specific weight and size and measure it yourself.Originally posted by turbo90accord View PostYea but im always weary about not buying a complete matching set of pistons.
