    Need Advice On Building Motor

Hi guys. Im planning on getting a reconditioned f22a6 in my car, so i thought before they would actually put the motor in, to build it up a bit. Will definately get it port and polished and was also looking into the Bisimoto turbo application parts. I was thinking of getting the 8:2:1 forged pistons along with the lvl 1.2 Turbo Regrind Cams, H Beam Rod Set and Cam Gear. Now my goal is to have 280whp with also the capability for more power. Will this do? And also does Bisi ship to Australia?

I know Bisimoto has done business worldwide, should be no problem.

Sounds like you have good plans. I would even consider having Bisimoto make you custom pistons for 9:1 compression, for a little more gain and still have good safety margin.

I would try to keep the bores at 85 or 85.5mm max for most strength. For NA, you can get away with 86mm bore, but that's the limit without cylinder wall issues.

Also, depending on your new RPM range, consider valvetrain upgrades, if needed. If you have lower mileage/good condition stock valvetrain, I know it's good up to 7000 RPM. If your valvetrain has high mileage/bad condition, then replace with Bisimoto upgraded components.

Make sure to use a good quality motor oil with your build to protect it, I'd run something like Torco.

Thanks man, good advice. How much you think the custom pistons would cost? Because the turbo pistons are a great price for me. Also does Bisi make custom turbo manifolds for the f22a? I've checked his website and didn't see any. I want a custom one that flows good and keeps a/c. Damn i wish they made the mini ram for the F lol.

      Anyone else got any advice?

Well apart from one helpfull reply i aint gettin to much help here, anyways. How much whp could i expect with just the port & polish and engine internals installed with a good tune? I already have a chipped p28 ecu that i was gonna use for a Hondata S200, but here in Australia they prefer to use Neptune for boosted honda's. Will Hondata be just as good?

skip the port and polish until you have a setup that actually needs it. The f22 loves boost and i personally have put down over 475hp on a stock head. for internals if your not going to sleeve it pistons and rods, a great turbo, lots of fuel and a good tuner can net an easy 400hp but i wouldnt push beyond that on the stock sleeves.

Hondata s300 is my choice for tuning.

Bisimoto sells a 86mm piston. its either that or get some 85.5 mm pistons, I wouldn't keep the stock 85mm boar. If your going to spend a lot of money building a motor there is no reason not to start with a perfectly round boar.

As far a tuning goes, I recommend ectune. It has some features that set it apart from the competition IMO. Its also a great value.

Good to see some replies . As far as the S300 apparently they're illegal here in australia unless its only for a proper race car (i know it sucks). Also the pistons im getting are 86mm so wouldn't i have to bore out to make them fit? Also i thought i might as well get the port and polish done cause from what i've a read an engine that breathes well puts out good hp. Also since im doing this in stages, what kind of hp and whp could i expect from just getting the internals done with the parts mentioned and a good tune? Cause i plan to do the internals first then when i get the cash together for the turbo setup i'll pop that in.

Thanks for the replies so far

as far as hp numbers the lower compression is going to hurt you without the turbo

I dont know why s300 would be illegal when s200 does the same thing tuning wise as the s300. Both ways its inside an OEM ecu case and is not noticible from the outside unless they open the case which i hightly doubt that they do.

If your long term goal is to turbocharge then put your money towards that. While yes it is true that the an engine that breathes well does create more power, the F22 is one of the BEST flowing/breathing heads that honda makes. There are people including myself making OVER 400hp on a stock (no portwork) head. Save the money and put it toward a bigger turbo or the setup in general. The cost of a port and polish can get you a sleeved block or buy you some good internals.

IMO an f22 or h22 for that matter should not need to be ported and polished until a 450-500hp mark has been reached. These heads are more than capable of producing sick amounts of power with the right turbo and tune.

dbsharp- boar is an animal, bore is a hole

The compression is lower but it puts out a bigger displacement.

As for TurboAccord i'd still like to know if just doing the internals (no p & p) would net me some whp over stock?
And i'll look into the s300. Maybe some newbies spreading bs on my other forum.

Thanks for the advice so far.

new internals would only give you more HP if you increase the compression. having a slightly bigger bore and the same OEM compression may give you some HP but it would be very minimal at best.

Bisimoto does ship worldwide. If you need any products and/or Bisimoto services, pm me. As far as the 280whp, how much are you planning to boost? And how much whp are you currently making?

Damn good to see an actual person from bisimoto . At the moment im completely stock apart from some suspension mods. As for the amount of boost, anything that will net me 280whp or more is fine. Thats why i planned to do the internals, so just in case i want more whp i have an engine that can handle it. How much is it for the custom 9.9 comp pistons i've been hearing about?

the stock block will handle 300hp. i know because i did it for 4 years with no problems.
300hp boosted is really easy to hit. only takes between 8 and 12psi depending on the turbo you are using.
