The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

DSM manifold converted to external WG

hey guys im nearing the completion of my turbo finally

just had a question....i have a 14b turbo with dsm manifold but the internal gate was not good so i ditched it for a tial 38MM external WG. ive got the flange for it and its got a 3'' extention with exhaust pipe that i want to weld onto the manifold. Question is how would i do this?

    - how to cut the thick cast iron manifold?
    - should i ditch the exhaust pipe on the flange because its not thick enough to weld onto cast iron?

ill post some pics later today so its more clear....in the meantime thanks for any input

I haven't even thought about that! That's brilliant! It would be quite easy to cut off the dump pipe on a DSM O2 housing, weld on a pipe/flange to go to the waste gate and remove the flapper and port out the waste gate port on the exhaust housing.

Although if you do it this route you won't be able to go back to being internally gated, but then if your dump pipe leads to a different waste gate it doubt anyone would be going back anyway.

        I'M SO DOING THIS!

yea that idea was option #2.

Id rather try to weld the flange onto the actual manifold tho but if not ill have to go the other route

You could do what I did.

Get one of the aftermarket o2 housings with atmospheric dump. Take off the atmospheric dump, remove the internals of the internal wg, bore out the area where the ig originally was, and get the external wg welded on.

              I love mine now.
