Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

There's a thread on using 87mm pistons in a stock sleeve F block.... I would say the short answer, esp on boost, would be no.

One benefit with higher compression say 9.5-10.5:1 vs lower is the off boost and partial boost power. Sure it fun when your in full boost but u will need a lot more psi to make that power on a lower compression engine. And most people are not driving around 15+psi 95% of their driving. If you are a highway ledfoot spirited driver unless you are planing to hit 140+mph regularly, the higher compression engine will give you better throttle respond and quicker powerband usage due to the lower psi need to make that power. Since you are aiming at 300whp (I might be bias since I also run 10.6:1) but I believe you will be more happy daily driver with at least an 9.5:1 or higher if you have a good tuner.

I use crome as our engine management. Gonna run w 550cc injectors. I have a pretty large turbo it's a ar 70 with a 60 something trim.

Oh I'm not gonna race it- it's more just a fun car go fast on the highway but not beat on it at the track.

It's damn near impossible to get any gas over 93 here even that is only at a few stations e85 would be out of the question.

Thanks yes I'm def thinking of something the the 9.? Area - I wanted a shelf piston so i wouldn't have to have anything custom made I still need to call bisi and see if they carry a 9.? Or how much it is to make them. Any other way I'm having a hard time finding pistons for the f22b are there any other pistons from another engine that I could use?

I must say tho I don't have a lead foot in fact the hubby says I drive like a granny altho I do want good response when I go to punch it-

If you can't get anything over 93, then almost any boost is out of the question.

we have cars here in colorado sporting well over 20psi on 91 octane.

I personally run e85. And varying differences in e80-e85 are compensated when tuned for lamda rather than air fuel ratio. It does make a small difference if you run into some e70 but thats pretty rare. Find out who sells it and if its true e85 always use the same station.

ya plenty of cars around here are boosted on 91 - i run 93 and no issues - yes id like e85 but u have to get at the track and its spendy - so i would save for special occasions.

having issues getting ahold of anyone at bisi seems they are always busy or out, im hoping they will give me a call back so we can get this started.

E85 is cheaper than regular unleaded and it is not just sold at the tracks. I run E85 and I have a list of station that sell it in the glove box.

you havent got a clue what your talking about. Ive been making 530whp on pump 93 for 3 years.

9.0:1 and up. 9.5-9.7 would be nice, if your tuner cant tune a boosted 10:1 setup, he shouldnt tune cars.

im at 9.0:1 and have LOADS of tq off boost..... but my F block has 87.5mm pistons

So finally got ahold of bisi and they say I must sleeve to run the bored over pistions. Umm i really wasn't planning on doing a major build- not looking for 500hp so i'm wondering what's everyones take on that?

Also what are the stock rods good for?
                            Thanks n advance!

E85 is not something you can just put in at the track like you could race gas e85 is tuned to a completely different air/fuel ratio and would completely throw your tune off if you just put it in on the track without retuning or having another map to load.

The stock F22 sleeves can be bored to fit bisi's 86mm pistons but not recommended to bore beyond that. Stock rods i wouldnt trust over 400hp. i wouldnt go over 400-450 on an unsleeved block either but thats still a personal thing cause i dont think anyone has ever pushed over 350 on a stock unsleeved block.

someone made over 400 on a completely stock bottom end with a holset.

Id call up Race Engineering, tell them what you want for a bore, and what comp ratio you want and get custom CP's or wisecos. Id bore .5mm or 1mm over stock and you will be fine.
