Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Wastegate spacer

I have a external wastegate. The way my manifold is I need to space it another 1/2 inch to clear the alternator.... Spacing it will not effect functionality correct? How hot does the compress housing get? I am worried about killing the alt since it only has about an inch of clearance..

    I have this style wastegate

the gate hat will get suprisingly hot. but not hot enough to ruin an alternator from an inch away.

and if your using a quality gate, you wont see any issues.
if your using a TiAL "style" gate, you will probably have some problems anyway.

I'm not worried about the wastegate heating up the alt... It was the turbo itself... I need to space the wastegate out because it would not be possible to run a ?dump tube?

What wastegate would be more reliable?

well everyone with a boosted f22 or h22, anything with a front mounted alt. (b and d series mount in the rear) has a turbo 3-6 inches from their alternators, and i havent heard any horror storys.

and anything that doesnt say JDM sport on it.
        haha

Tials are the most common. there are others, like Synapse, that most people havent heard of but is still a quality gate. Even a turboSmart would be better than some of the no-name garbage.
