Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Boost questions

I'm planning on boosting my f22a by the beginning of next year. I want to do it "right" so im taking the time to get decent parts and all. My goal is 350-400hp.

Plans are to PnP, new valves, new rings and bearings, and all new seals. After that i'll probably get one of bisi's turbo regrinds.

Anyway, my questions: I want to run 2 lvls of boost. Something kind of low to street with so my parts/engine wont be pushed so hard and the higher would be for track days. What will i need to do run something in the 7-10psi range and then upwards of 25psi? Different tunes?

What controllers do u all recommend? I dont want one of those little metal ebay ones with two switches.

I guess thats it for now but im sure there will be more. Thanks ahead of time

Are you planning on running stock pistons and rods, if yes, then it is gonna be VERY risky to run 400hp.

You don't need two different tunes to run different levels of boost. You just need a good tune that will be solid at any psi you want to run. Then just use an electronic boost controller for different boost levels. Quality controllers are usually right around 100bucks.

You will need different tunes if you plan to run pump gas and race gas, I would think if your planning to run 25psi you would want to use race gas or at least e85. There are a few different electronic boost controllers that will do what your asking but I would just use the feature in the computer you use, like hondata or neptune boost control.

Yea Idk about 25psi to reach 350-400hp on a stock block, may only last a couple of days. I'd go with a more efficient setup that would allow you to make 350-400 under 20psi, that will make it last a lot longer. But if your motor is fully built, then disregard what I just said lol

I was planning on getting some 8.2:1 pistons, new rods, and at least the 1.2 bisi regrind. Been doing a lot more research and it's looking like i'll have to run really rich (compared to stock settings) in order to push 25psi without crazy knock.

ANyone running boost at these lvls? If not, what are youre recommendations?

If your engine if going to be fully built, you won't have any problems as long as you have a good tuner. You won't "have to run really rich" - whoever told you that doesn't know what they are talking about. You will just need to get your engine tuned properly.

Also, you may not need to run 25psi to reach your power goal of 400 as long as your setup is efficient.

Look around this site, there are some guys making 400+,500+, and 600+ hp, look at their setups so you get an idea what you need.
