Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

Yeah no shit.... Pre and post throttle body is different. When the throttle body is closed no boost. For a split second boost until bov does its job pre tb. Ive read pre throttle body and post. Some say you need it pre or you will have spikes.. Some say you do not...

I have never hooked up a pre. due to fact my turbos never have the nipple on them. so I run post tb.
of course I have only run DSM turbos to this point.
as far as contirbuting well if you can't have fun, then oh well!
you should see some of the questions that have been asked.

either way tho it is a manual boost controller.
chance for spike is there either way.

Your wastegate should be run off of the most accurate reading that your car sees. That is usually a nipple on your charge pipe (PRE TB, but very close to it). The reason for this is because after your charger compresses the air there will almost always be a psi drop through the system, ultimately it's not a big deal running off of the turbo directly but it won't take into account the pressure drop. So 10 PSI at the turbo could be like 8-9 at the TB, so you'd have to crank it up to 11-12 to actually see 10 in your engien.

I have no port on my turbo either... What would you recommend for a boost controller over the manual one?

So wastegate to boost controller to pre throttle boost source.
BOV goes post throttle body along with the boost gauge.

                      I go

boost only source (preferably off the compressor housing) -> Boost controller -> Wastegate/Wastegate actuator

This provides the most constant reading IMO. The further you get from the turbo, the more chances that you will have variables skew your readings.

Oh and if you are considering a MBC, Hallman all the way. Cheap and solid

I have a Hallman manual boost controller (even though I'm not boosted yet ), it still cost me around 100 bucks. It's the piece of equipment that makes your turbocharger NOT blow up your engine.... Don't go ebay cheap on it.
