Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Need a little help here.

Okay so i am boosting my car near the spring of 2011. I have almost everything i need. Almost. I am uncertain on what all i need though. I have the following:
    Garrett 50 trim t/3
    Log manifold
    oil lines

    I need the following:

    Tial 38mm waste gate
    560cc Injectors
    Walbro 255 fuel pump
    Intercooler and piping
    Oil filter sandwich
    P06 w/basemap
    AND tune

I been trolling around MR threads and a lot of them mention 3 bar map sensor and S-AFC.

What are they and why do i need them and do i need them.....

    Thanks.

Just trying to figure things out before i go parts shopping.

The stock map sensor was not designed to read boost pressure from a turbo, thus the use of a different map sensor is required. The higher the number (3-5bar)the more boost can be read by the sensor. The use of a gm 3bar is commonly used because most people dont boost over 28lbs, cost, availablity, easy of install, and reliablity.
The S-AFC was an old school way to control the air-fuel ratio. Since you plan on running a programable ecu there is no reason to have this.

Interesting. well I'm not going over 10 pounds of boost I might go 12 or 13 pounds in the future but not now. would you guys recommend a manual or electronic boost controller?

that's really up to you. If you want to spend the extra $$ then an ebc could be good, but an ebc is also harder to figure out all of the options that are normally available on them. A manual boost controller for your case is probably just fine, unless you absolutely want to switch from high to low boost from inside the car, but since you're not running an insane amount of boost then you will most likely just keep it on the one setting. Right now I'm running 15psi and have a manual boost controller and I havent even thought about turning down the boost!!

You might also need blow off valve, HKS or something better.
And maybe for your sake block guard, new head gasket and ARP studs.
Don't forget oil like full syn 10w60 and maybe also oil cooler. Fuel pump maybe just to be sure that she is working properly. 2.75" exhaust pipes.
Oil temp and pressure gauge, and EGT gauge will be good to for take a good care of your engine. extra radiator fan that you can engaged from inside of car and cooling fluid at all times, summer and winter.
Basic things but they are all just to keep your eyes on engine.

            Good luck.

the blow off valve doesn't have to cost an arm an a leg. the DSM unit is good for over 20psi.

and if it is tuned right, the stock block will be fine for 250-300 hp range

not sure if it was mentioned already but you will need a good clutch if you are planning on running over 200hp

just read the diy turbo install guide, it's on here

10w60? this is something new, i always ran conventional 5w30 on my turbo cars including my turbo f22... and they were fine.
