    Wacky Boost Idea!!!???

Ok guys, so I'm sitting at my cp pricing turbo parts and such and while I'm doing this I'm thinking about a local performance shop (All Japanese Performance), they pretty much specialize in boosting the new si's. It's sick here's the link to their youtube page http://www.youtube.com/user/ajperfor...12/V8Ggg6YP5ok . So in any event, the si's have a high compression around 11:1 I believe if not that. So I'm thinking theres an h22 I can pick up for a decent price that I thought about rebuilding n/a using the nippon racing type s pistons.........and then it hit me......WHY NOT BOOST IT!!!!!!????? These si's last as daily drivers making big power on high compression "stock" blocks, so a high compression built block should definitely handle it.....What do you think?

    Here's the master plan LOL:

    Block: H22
stock rods (possibly forged being that they're so cheap nowadays)
87mm nippon racing type s piston (350whp+ capability)

    Head: stock (for now)
thickest head gasket I can find (I dont want to be above an 11.1 cr, I hear the pistons are a little higher than an 11:1)

    T3/T4 turbo 50 trim

I plan to put down about 350whp at about 7-8psi

    Parts List:

    JDM H22a
87mm Nippon Racing type S pistons
    H Beam forged rods
    0.50 Cometic head gasket
CX Racing turbo kit (lol I know I may get flamed for this one) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNIVE...mZ140518840380
    Turbo manifold
    Down/dump pipe
    p28 chipped/tuned on chrome

that would be like having a supercharger (high comp pistons) with a turbo charger, I don't think you would last as a daily driver...that's waay to much power to handle as a dd....that's what drag cars do, but keep in mind they rebuild their engines after like 2 runs!!! My advice go with low comp turbo pistons....yeah you will be pushing high hp numbers but if its reliably your going for, I don't think that's a good idea....just my 2 cents

I understand but maybe I forgot to mention that these si builds were for customers who daily drive their cars. They also have a shop car there with this kit thats been running on stock internals I believe for over 60,000 miles. I'll probably be anywhere between a 10.5-11:1 compression with stronger pistons than stock. Lol wheres lodollar, I remember him ranting about high compression turbo builds in one thread lol, and I know I've heard others briefly speak about this many times before lol especially when someone ask "I wana go turbo what compression should I be at?"

Also correction to my power goal, I think 280-300whp at 7-8psi would be more attainable for starters lol I want to keep the tune pretty fluffy for now. Im more concerned with reliability than numbers with this build.

Dont let the CP ratio discourage you.Usualy with a higher CP you need less boost to make the same power as a low compression build.Id rather do a 10:2:1 or somthing along those lines rather than 8:5:1.They will last just aslong or longer its all in the tune.My good friend evan has a boosted Type R in a hatch back tuned at RLZ by howard for 2yrs now Stock bottom end and head bad ass turbo set up it made 367whp on 6psi.Shes a screamer thats for sure.Just do research on the subject like i said if i had the money/time and was wanting to boost her id go higher compression just my .02.

Exactly, and that's where I heard about the hatchback it was you probably who mentioned it in a previous thread, anyway that's what I was thinking its all in the tune and nowadays everyone is boosting on higher compression ratios like the g35/z guys and the si guys. More power, less boost.

Lol this just made me want to keep my 350whp goal as it now seems definitely attainable, @least 320whp I should be able to put down on a 2.2l dohc vtec

320whp is very do able if not more and for it to be safe.Only thing i would look into is rods with the piston set up.Also have your clearances/tolerances checked aswell.320whp on a rod piston combo is a fart in the wind these days vitara eagle rod sohc's are doing that+ more these days. But that set up is low cp just stating 320whp can be safe.

My buddy had swipe'd old d16 in his street car...with a different turbo car put 420hp(260 on a 14b) on pump and 19lbs through a d16(without sleeves). You can def get 300 through a f22.(with the right research)

Do you guys have e-85 where you live? u can do almost anything if you got the right amount of octane.

Ok understandable. So in any event I found where to get most of my parts but I would just like to know whats the thickest head gasket I can get and where can I find it? Also any suggestions on any h22 turbo manifolds? I checked on ebay but I want something more than your traditional log style but the ramhorns I saw were pricey and I'm not familiar with the brands.

considering the sensitive nature of a high comp turbo engines i'd stay away from ebay products altogether. you already seem to be working on a "what can i get away with" mind set. you can only cut so many corners before you end up back where you started at.
