Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

Which turbo is the 60 trim and which one is the 50? Trim has nothing to do with compressor/turbine wheel size, just the relation between the smaller "inducer" part of the compressor to the larger exducer. ( i believe... )

Either way the T04E is definitely an ebay turbo...
And i cant tell what the t04b is.

Either way the E wheel is superior and more efficient i believe and with the stage 3 turbine wheel should be a perfect match for your car even at lower boost levels.

If i was you i'd sell both turbos... and pick up a REAL garret T04E 50 trim with stage 3 turbine wheel.

The silver 1 is the 50 trim and the black 1 is the 60 trim. Also thanks for clearing that up because when I was researching I realized that the larger trim size may not neccessarily mean its a better turbo. The to4e is supposedly superior to the to4b. The reason i ask is because im giving 1 of them away to one of my friends, he's boosting a cd5. Hes not really trying to make much power, but I on the other hand would eventually like to turn up the boost. Basically what I'm saying is I need the turbo with the most potential. Also by the way whichever one I do keep I will be sending of to garret to be rebuilt, I'd rather not sell them I got them really cheap.

Also I've been checking around to see where to send my turbo to rebuilt and decided to go with blaastperformance until I came across some really nasty reviews. I then came across gpopshop.com and there reviews weren't bad. What do you guys think? Who would you reccomend?

I have no experience with sending a turbo off to be rebuilt, but I also think that the cost of having one rebuilt will probably be at least half the cost of a new garret turbo.

The majority of people on HT seem to opt for new ones when one needs a rebuild simply because its so expensive.

Either way its not my money and im not trying to spend it for you, try getting a quote from companies you find good reviews from to see just how much it costs for a rebuild.

After taking some measurements however the claimed 50 trim turned out to be a 57 trim compressor and the 60 trim actually being a 74 trim roughly

In any event I have decided to start with the acclaimed 50 trim, turns out I am keeping both turbos since my friend ended up finding an almost complete kit for $300. Thanks anyway for the help BIGsnorlax

id take the turbo with the bigger compressor wheel. you could make more power on lower boost.

Yea thats what I thought at first but after doing some research it seems as though that isn't always the determining factor so i don't know. I guess the only way to really find the answer would be to try both and see for myself which one suits my needs the best.
