Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Boosted H22 overheating

So I did some searching and read a bunch of threads. And don't think I came up with a clear cut answer. I've got myself a boosted H22, rebuilt bottom end, and a ton of goodies. I retained a/c &p/s. Recent retune is pushing close to 400whp. Problem is, every time I drive in street traffic, I overheat. I mean, I watch the needle moving its way up to the redline. Not good stuff. Temp is golden on highways, lots of airflow to keep it cool. But if I have to sit at a stop light, I better find somewhere to sit for half an hour or so to let it cool down some. A Mishimoto half size dual core radiator was installed, fan's a bt dinky I think tho.

Anyway, my CB is supposed to be my daily driver, but right now it's sitting in a parking spot collecting dust. I'll be relocating to San Antonio, Texas in a couple months, and if the car can't handle the heat of South Carolina, it stands no chance in Tx.

Guidance? Advise? Or just plain ol' help? Thanks all!

Dude, you're one of the people I was hoping to hear from. After checking out your whip I realized our's are very similar. What kind of fan do you recommend?

You should confirm its the fan before you replace it. Diagnosing is the key.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

Wire the fan to always run either off battery or ignition and drive it and see if the issue persists. If it does then you need a better fan.

In my case I ended up running 3 fans. One 12" as my main and 2 7"s as condenser fans. Also had to up the fuse to 30amps.

I was wondering about the t-stat. The joint that did the turbo build for me said they changed it out. Hard to say, it's been a long story with them. I'm thinking I'll just take it out altogether and see what happens. And try that hood off idea. Hopefully it's something easy like a t-stat.

The little fan I have now tries to do its thing, I hear it whirling away. It just may not be strong enough. I'll check t-stat first and go from there.

Thanks guys, I'll let you know how it goes.

Here's what you need. I know from experience and I have pretty much the similiar build as you.

                              -Fluidyne Civic half rad
-Spal high performance fan<<not cheap but works very well
                              -low temp thermostat<<Mugen makes one

If you add these parts and replace the other one's I can almost guarantee it will fix your problem.
