Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Downpipe Problem

The other downpipe thread is clogged up, and this is a different problem. I thought I was going to go get an estimate on how much my downpipe would be today, but then the guy said he woudn't look at it unless the turbo, intercooler, and all piping was already on it. I asked him how was I suppose to bring it to him with everything on it if it didn't have a downpipe. He told me to have it towed. What did you guys do to have a downpipe made? And he also said for them to put the manifold on would be about 2 hrs labor and total about $120, just to put the manifold on.

I was lucky enough to have a downpipe from another turbo accord but i had to hack it all up in order to make it fit in my engine bay. If u can find a "cool" muffler shop then u could order whatever flanges that u need. A couple 2.5-3" u-bends(whatever pipe size u choose). Test fit the pipe, make markings on where it needs to be welded and take it to that cool muffler shop. I think i remember u saying ur parents won't let u put the turbo kit on right? I ran a downpipe that barely left the engine bay for about 3 days.

Almost, My parents wouldn't let me swap my engine to the f22b, but they will let me do the turbo myself.

Hmmmm. So no downpipe, I guess over spring break I'll put the kit on and have the downpipe made.

I can weld, thats not the problem. Modifying the downpipe and making the flange is what I don't want to do. I have custom fabricated a couple of flanges and I hate doing it. I'd rather take it to the shop to have one made. Also the welder I have is a stick, and it's not great for these things. Were getting a tig soon, i think, my dad wants to make an exhaust for his corvette, thats why were getting one.

stick welder isn't good for this stuff. You need a mig or tig to weld this stuff. I have ni-rod, so I can weld stainless steel, but stick welding a dp isn't a good idea. And I hate making flanges

can't u just get the flange from www.roadraceengineering.com ? U could stick weld it then drive it to get mig welded. Atleast that way they just have to weld and they don't have to do any fitment at all

a friend of mine drove the car w/o the downpipe (he was driving to the shop to get one made). He ran into a trafic jam, causing the block to heat up ending in internal damage (pistons overheated). he completely ruwined the engine (stock h23). Now he's building a H22. Just FYI.

No projects at the moment... danm

the shop is 6 min from my house. There is no way I will hit traffic. And if I do the downpipe myself, it will add another 3 days or more to putting on the turbo kit.

haha, yeah I kinda have. I just wanted to know how to get the car there. I already thought of welding it myself, and it just doesn't seem like a good idea. After about 8 months, my exhaust that I welded up for my car, the welds are starting to look kinda bad, and now I don't run that exhaust anymore. I want something that will last.
