Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    oil pressure restrictor

i was wondering if a inline turbo oil filter would work just as well as the 14dollar restrictor. has anybody used one of these?
    http://linux.forcedperformance.net/m...ry_Code=SP-New

i know its expensive on this site, but i have seen them for around 30bux.

any insight on this instedd of using the stealthmode oil restrictor?

what is the purpose of an oil restrictor and where does it go??

the purpose is to reduce the oil pressure flow that goes through the turbo. on a car like ours, just hooking up oil lines to your turbo with your oil line kit is fine, but the oil pressure is higher than what the turbo was set from factory.

So you want to reduce the pressure with a restrictor or valve that reduces the oil feed pressure to the turbo inlet.

This can help with how the turbo spins, supposeably and could possibly effect lag significently.
also prevents oil from being blown from the turbos's seals
this is what i have read at least.

isnt this an actual filter element and not a restrictor?

Read what Backfire wrote, you may have missed his post.
The restrictor is an adjustable valve...kinda like a faucet. I need one badly lol

yes it a filter, but if you read farther into it, it describes that when you place it on a dsm, you have to drill out the oil feed source to flow more b/c the filter element supposeably restricts it down to flow less.

it doesn't make to much sense to me, but from the way i read about it, it seems like it must use a small diameter hole to restrict pressure on the element itself.

anyways i fould a cut off valve from vaccum lines and i fabbed it up to my turbo, so i have a restrictor now.
but now i just have to find out how much i should turn the valve to restrict the proper amount. when i find a oil pressure gauge that will hook up to my line, i will find out the positive amout the valve should be closed to.
