Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

rule is 2 degree for every psi of boost, but if you manually retard the timimg, then your low end will run like crap since your about 10 degree retard. This is Ignition timing if your talking about camshalf timing then leave it stock, unless you have a regrind turbo cam and an Adjustable cam gear.

get yourself an boost relate retard unit from MSD it call an BTU, it will retard related to boost and return to stock timing when you not in boost. I did not have an BTU and retard my timing only by 7 degree and blew my engine at 12psi.

Actually from what I've seen you'll want to start out with retarding timing 1 degree per pound of boost.

2 degree is to be safe, but most go with 1 degree per psi. so unless your boosting over 8psi, 1 degree retard per psi is just fine. Manually changing the timing is turning the distrubutor(sp?) on the engine. but once you set it manually then even if your not in boost the timing is retarded meaning, slower off the line and also slower when you floor the gas.

AN electronic boost retard device will make retard only when it sense boost, so you don't lose power.. MSD BTU is one of them
