Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.


The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.


For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.


Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    sry for the annoying opinion thread

    but im lookin at this 14b, and i want your guys opinion on it, its says he doesn’t know the condition, other than (he was told) it has very minimal shaft play, and it was only used for 500 miles but he wants to sell it to me for 70$shipped, it also seems like its not going to come with the wastegate and I’m trying to finish getting everything asap

    i also went to the junkyard today and they found a 14b with no shaftplay at all and the wheel spun freely, but he said that someone had bought it and brought it back and he didn’t know y. and the lowest he would go was $200
    which is obviously high but the nice thing is its like right down the street i could go buy it tomaro if i wanted to. it also seems in very good shape other than some oxidization/rust (what ever u wana call it) on the wastegate. and it was a lil dirty obviously. i would really like your opinion on this one cuz despite the cost i love that its so close and i don’t have to deal with shipping

    Shaft play is easy to determine, in/out pull on the turbine "nut" and push, should be none, Side to side will have an really minute amount(depending on age and usage) if it feels choppy its no good, time to rebuild! Check out dsmtuners.com for 14b's and if you want a guaranteed reliable one go to forced performance! Or attempt at your own risk! lol http://www.vfaq.com/mods/Turbo-rebuild.html

    I rebuilt mine! 200cdn after everything! Werks nicely!

      i know how to determine shaft play. i wasnt asking about how to determine it

        if it has any shaft play i wouldnt buy it. 4get about rebuilding it. u dont buy parts just 2 rebuild them. get the $200 turbo 4um ur area. it was probaly only brought bak b/c the guy found a bigger turbo.

          Yup, wrecker parts bro! the other one is gonna need a rebuild! The only reson I said that is so you could determine it 4 yourself, but since you already know wtf is this thread for??? Peace

            i wanted peoples opinions on weather i should by eather of theses turbos

              if someone says that a turbo that is in their hands is supposed to have minimal shaft play iw ould be leery. after all he is HOLDING it and can easily determine how much shaft play it has rather than go by a second opinion of someone else...

                  yea they didnt have anything there so i went to the one off of 84 in brewster on 312. the guy there was nice but his boss wouldnt the turbo go for less than 200

                  have u ever been to the one in beacmen(SP) on poquauge(sp) road? i found it in the yellow pages ima go cheak it out this weekend

                        alwqays look at dat wen u get a used turbo. shaft play. if it moves other than wat its supposed 2 then dont get it. its just like a car. u dont want 2 b puttin more money n2 it than u got it 4

                          the one in brewster has got a lot more cars than wingdale its pretty good. id go there with u but i wana try to stray away from it cuz im on probation and if i get busted for anything out of dutchess county im fucked. but i plan on cheakin out a couple jyards this weekend like the one in beacmon that i mentioned.
