    Question's for boosted members

Hey Peep's im trying to plan out my turbo project and get to where i want to be power wise but still not spend a crapload of money and still keep it dependable. Now we all know the weak link when boosting f22ax is the ring lands. With that said here are my questions.
    1. je or other pistons for that matter made for boost with take care of this ringland problem. Correct me if im wrong.
    2. Will i be able to get away from having to upgrade my rods with the turbo pistons. Guess what im asking is i want to run a t3/t4 turbo at about 15 psi i want to shoot for about 300 hp. Would stock rods hold this or not ?
    3. Im going to do this is steps. would going to 9:1 compression be bad ? reason im asking is my first steps are to p&p the head, cam regrind. That should give me a lil more kick untill step two thats going to be the 9:1 pistons this way i have some get up and go untill i get enough save for the rest or the project ie sidewinder mani, turbo, rad.

I have seen some guys run 15 psi no problem on a stock f22 but that was with a t25 14g 16g and so on, will the t3/t4 make me go ka boom with the 9:1. Also thinking of running hondata only for the fact that the tuning shop uses hondata or aem ems. I would run with uber but the fact no one here know's it or how to tune it worries me and i dont have the self confidence to do it myself. I really dont wanna blow up my investment ya know ! Thanks Guys /gals..

15psi on stock rods is pushing it, it can and has been done, but by very knowledgeable members. Who is running 15psi on a t25/14b? That's not very smart. You might as well upgrade the rods and do it right the first time, so in the end you won't have to do it again

don't be a fool, if ur willing to get a sidewinder manifold instead of rods then u have ur priorities all wrong.

See, I don't get it... If you want to run that much boost, why is your compression still 9:1? I figured 8 or 8.5:1 would be better for more boost, obviously you sacrifice some power on the bottom end before she spools-up. When I get around to boosting, it'll be a fresh bottom end, billet rods, dished pistons, rings MADE for boost, all ARP fasteners, etc.....

9:1 compression would give him good spool and power. f22 sleeves should hold 15psi, rods/pistons are the only weak link, so I think he has the right idea if he gets rods

You should never buy just aftermarket rods and use stock pistons.

Oh for sure, the stock pistons/rings are NOT made for boost!! It would only make sense to do it right the first time, right.....

Well i already know i should get the rods too but thats another 500 bucks as far as the sidewinder i have a friend that is giving me his from his h23 seeing he's getting rid of the car and putting back to normal for a trade in. but i know i should just go all out and go ahead and get the sleeves and rods too shit i should go all out but saving 400-500 bucks is worth it imo.. this is why i asked if the stock rods can take the beating ! Im not going for some show car or drag car here hell the only reason im going for the pistons is that i know for a fact the stock ones wont hold up for long. So again would the stock rods hold 15 psi ? And yes if i had 5k id go full hog on this motor but im budget minded the 500 i save from the rods will get my flywheel and clutch.. so my plan in fill is this

                1 p&p - $200
                2 cam - less than $100
                3 sidewinder - FREE
                4 t3/t4 $500.- maybe cheeper if i find a better deal
                5 pistons for boost- 500-600
                6 fmic - ebay $150
                7 $500 hondata +200-500 for tuning s200 with 3step and boost
8 pipes - depends still not there yet. im going to say 300 with custom dp and back from there.
(grand total = 2000-3000 and puttin down 300-400 hp)
Again im doing this over time, its not like i can afford this all at the same time
i can skip on the p&p and cam saves me 300 bucks right there i could go 14g 16g turbo used for next to nothing i could go uber for next to free ! well lets say 200 for ecu and chipping stuff. But again im going for a nice build with quality goods that will be dependable for me. Going with the pistons is someting im going to do no matter what, and im thinking 9:1 is still going to be turbo friendly plus give me a lil go untill i do get the turbo and stuff ready to rock.. SO will the stock rods take the 15 psi ?? and be dependable ? Also i want to keep my ac !! gets to damn hot here to not have it.

I'm sure they can handle 15 psi, but for how long... Who knows. I would change out the rods, even if you don't spend a fortune get some Crowers or something in there. "The engine will only be as strong as it's weakest link...."

misinterpreted it, I meant get rods ALONG with pistons. That would not make sense, aftermarket rods with stock pistons I thought you'd give me more credit then that.

                      1. regrinds= not the best idea with boost

                      2. if ur on a budget then ditch the PnP idea

                      3. by no means would i trust an ebay ic for 300 hp

                      4. t25s and 14bs would go boom at at 15 psi after to long

                      5. your gana see theres alott of lil parts that u forgot about or didnt know about that u need thats going to add up and kill ur budget

id wait awhile and do some more research before u start this project
or start with a smaller easier turbo project

and im sry to kill ur fun but.. about 90% of the people that make posts about their turbo prodject idea that say there shootin for 300+ hp reduce there goal to 200. within a couple mounths.

but go ahead and do it if u want. it would be awsome, not maney people on here are breakin 280 whp. i love to see when people do

anyways, you say you dont wana go all out, but you want to get the s200 Not only do you have to buy the whole ecu and software, but then u also gota pay for someone to tune it for you. thats throwing away money. Learn how to tune your own car, its best for you and the car. That way if something fucks up, you dont have to blame anyone but yourself.

but for godsakes, dont use stock rods on forged pistons, or vice-versa.

*Sigh* I have been under too much stress lately. I missed where he says he wanted pistons, and no rods...which makes no sense. Again this 15psi DSM turbo thing... . I mean if you want to spin tire most of the time, go for it. The GST is excellent proof of the 14b's tire spinning capabilities.
