From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    Turbo Question

i got a question guys. im going to be turboing very soon, and i would like to know some answers. im going to be installing a 16g turbo.

This block guard, http://www.honda-performance.com/info-lv2.asp?id=236 , if i install it can i turn up to 12 psi safely?

Also at 12 psi, can i still have my side mount intercooler?

I will be asking questions in this thread as i go further.

I wouldn't run a sidemount and wouldn't suggest a blockguard unless the block is built and you're a bettin' man.

I wouldnt use a block guard either. I've been told that you'll have problems w/ your coolant. And if your not building the block u dont need a block guard.

12 psi is alright depending on tune and you have an auto. You will see that thing roast in hell. You can use a block guard but how effcient it works depends. The problems with cooling are the older block guard designs because the passages werent big ienough or some bs like that manufacturers have changed it. And as mentioned I wouldnt run a sidemount.

I'm not sure but u might have to change your map sensor.

And if u definately want to do the side mount idea u should look into venting your hood. Or u can install it like its a front mount intercooler.

A sidemount would bo OKAY, to run, although your gonna have to compensate for it through your tuning. The blockguard isn't going to be the determining factor whether you can run 12psi or not. It's the tuning, condition of motor, the way you drive, and if you feel comfortable with 12psi.

            Outta curiousity, which 16g?

Dunno I would think an FMIC would work better than the side mount running that amount of boost. Side mount your gonna have to find a way to direct the air to it or just run a fan at it but thats just me.

of course a front mount would be more efficient. But if he already has a side mount, it will work. Read my post carefully, i state(not directly), that he will lose power running the sidemount. I really liked RENR's sidemount setup when he had it. You should look up his old threads and find it. It was very nicely done

I think I seen it before quite a while ago but hes running FMIC now. Dunno I have heard bad stories about them so dunno. I will try to read up on his old threads and check it out. I remember one dudes motor blew up with the side mount forgot his sn. The spool should be quicker since lack of distance traveled I would think but I could be wrong on that part too.

less pressure drop. spool doesn't have anything to do with it. quicker throttle response. of course this stuff is minimal
