Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

As annoying as it is to hear and see all the time...USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION!..

why are you laughing at him? just because he is a new member with few posts? few posts dont have anything to do with intelligence.

he seems to know a lot more than you anyways.

but as he said, all you had to do is search through all the threads people made about builds.

I'm not condoning any of this. On one end, we have a very very common question. On the other end we have people preaching SEARCH. I think both sides were wrong.

Too many times people make threads on "how they are building an engine". Do they do it???? NO. Quality engine parts are expensive, much more than they know.

My advice to anyone who is considering building an engine:

-Research other completed builds. Then, keep track of the completed build's history. Thats modifications, problems, changes in tune and etc. Even if the build is a D16 VTEC.

-Keep track of what parts people are blowing up their engines with, and why? This way you don't repeat their errors. A history lesson if you will.

-Make a blueprint similar to theirs and price it. Also price things like oil pumps, water pumps and engine seals.

-Actually have the spare block in hand, and not "getting it".

From my experience, I can tell you that good quality built bottom end cost over 5gs. Thats just the short block.

EDIT: All these threads to is bring out the parrots who repeat things that other people have said. Get your info from the source. If you still have doubts about researching things yourself, just ask yourself what percentage of CB7tuner forum browsers/posters have actually built their own engine???

                Perfect answer in my opinion.

I've done around 2 years of research so far on H series builds (Not that they differ that much from F series, or any engine for that matter).

I've watched others build motors, blow them up, make small mistakes that cost them and so on.

What needs "Rebuilding" on the h22?

Does it need sleeves? A quick line hone and turn the crank and re-assemble with new bearings?

                A whole new rotating assembly?

What type of build are you doing, as in, All motor, Forced induction, stock overhaul?

As far as places to get the parts, I started at Honda, with all the gaskets, waterpump, tensioners and oem parts that I wanted to use.

I got my Rods/Pistons/Main and Head Studs/Bearings and other parts all from ebay. Just have to wait for a good deal and someone with good feedback.

Best of luck on your build and hope to see it posted up at some point.

Sorry, but based on your first post, i thought you were asking on like what parts of the engine actually need to be built...

Like per say...need new rods, pistons, rings, main bearings, rod bearings, main studs, rod bolts, front seals, timing belt...

all the basic sort of stuff to a rebuild...I had taken it that you wanted people to walk you through how to rebuild an engine.

As for recommending parts, you didn't say even what your goals were (which would help us make recommendations). if you're just rebuilding as a beginner, then just pick up stock components and go with that...perhaps some dont' even need to be replaced and you can do the wear parts, like bearings and rings...

That's why i recommended searching. I was guilty when i started of starting threads like what turbo, blah blah blah, and it is annoying when people tell you to search, but based on the detail of your thread it was the only advice i could give.

We can probably do that...but start by telling us...

What parts do you currently have (complete H22)?

                      What is your target horsepower?

Do you have the turbo yet?

                      What is your budget?
