Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

dont know which turbo to buy

i have $3000 to play around with on an f22, im going to spend 1000-1500 on internals and up to 1500 on a turbo, but i want around 400+ hp, having a hard time on manifolds too, new to turbos

    #2
I think you have to make your own manifold or use a dsm log type 4g63 manifold they bolt up. (though idk about making 400hp with a small dsm turbo)

idk. disco potato with a custom mani? should be good for about 400hp

search maybe? I have no idea really what I am talking about

1000-1500 isn't enough for internals, assuming the buildup is done properly. Do research first, ask educated questions later. After some research, you will realize that this thread was a waste.

Food for thought: A well built bottom end that handle's 400hp+ can cost you over 3gs. For an example of a well built bottom end, check Cisco's White project. Then total up the cost of his block and it'll make sense after.

I now must give you the displeasure of being called a NOOB. Cisco aka HondaFan81...like the only white project....

Its in the N/A section. Now you may say, "But I want to go turbo?!" Well, you only can put an engine together so many ways for it to operate properly. And also note turbo will inherently cost more than N/A.

                not really
you can put together a dsm kit for under $1000, and get 200hp(if your smart about it). your going to spend alot more to get 200hp out of a N/A f22.

Did you read the original post?

400hp+ is the key term he used in that post...

If you have that much money get a F22b and boost it turbo of choice since your new is DSM internal. If your going to spend money on a turbo system and build it your going to be wasting money because you won't tune it correctly ( if your doing it yourself ) go read a couple of threads before going the turbo route. like he said above educate yourself first and then ask questions if your don't understand. Buy my 14b turbo I have mani (undrilled) turbo and 02 housing great DIY and cheap 2.
either kill it or drift it...

you CAN build a block for less than 2000 and will handle 400whp. thats with assembly.'

rods/pistons/bearing/thrust washers are all you really need. boring/honing/assembly shouldn't cost much if you go to the right shop and if you do as much assembly as you can yourself.

you dont know what turbo to get? Find out where you want your power to be, then do some math.

Sleeving alone can cost over a thousand. Pistons and rods can also cross a thousand. So there goes your 2000 dollar figure. Misc machine work can easily pass 500 bucks. Main bearings, rod bearings, thrust washers, various seals, custom head gaskets and the list goes on. Then again the cost is subject to the how meticulous the build is.

So if you are one to overlook the little things that ensure longevity, then i agree. You can build an engine for little to no money at all. Hell, if you just want 400hp+, boost the shit out of the stock engine.

I say throw some pistons and rods in and show us what the stock sleeves can handle!
