alright, so i've got a friend whos selling a whole bunch of stuff off of his Eagle Talon Tsi AWD turbo. And I'm looking at purchasing his turbo setup. Manifold/turbo, blow off valve, intercooler, piping, whatever... and I was wondering if it would be a decent way to go since I am looking to upgrade my engine in the next 8 months. I currently have a F22a motor and would be swapping it for a H22. If I went ahead and had some fun with this motor (5psi) then get the other motor and have my turbo F22a while I get the stuff to build up the H22. Then swap over everything at once and put the dsm setup on the H engine. I was wondering if this was a wise thing to do with a F22. I'm looking to push about 5 psi, and I know they take about 8.8 to blow. But my real question is would it be reliable while I'm building up the H motor?

With the right tune it will be reliable especially at 5psi but its not as simple as bolt on and have fun.... make sure you do your research. wait slow down slow down so you wanna take the turbo f parts while the h is getting built then throw it onto the h. Both setups should run good pending on the motors current condition and who tuned it. This topic has been covered quite a few times there was someone on here that had a dsm setup on his h but the manifold was held by 3 bolts and the. 5psi you should be straight.when it comes to boosting an engine thats got an x amount of miles on it your reliablitily especially since that motor was made for allmotor purposes only your reliability has gone out the window.Originally posted by WilliamWalright, so i've got a friend whos selling a whole bunch of stuff off of his Eagle Talon Tsi AWD turbo. Also, it's not how much pressure your pumping into the motor, its how much power your making. If you're only making 200whp at 8.8 psi...chances are you won't blow it. If you're making 350whp at 10psi...you probably will (unless your crazy good like straightedge).Originally posted by sweet91accordif aredy time i need to put something in cb7tuner. you guy need to me a smart ass about and bust on my spelling, gramar and shit like that in so sorry.

I don't think I am reading this correctly...
You are going to swap out the F22 to drop in a bolt on turbo H22, then swap that out for a Built DSM F22, and then swap that out for a Built H22????
If this is correct:
1. You have way too much money to waste.
2. You are in desperate need of research. H & F heads interchange. The head studs don't tho. There is absolutely no need to build two bottom ends if you built the first one correctly.
Educate yourself on this matter thoroughly before you spend even a cent.

I wasnt going to build up my F22, just the H22. Secondly, I understand the process of installing and tuning a turbo setup (I just dont have the tuning hardware). I understand that the F22 will need a new ECU and probably a dyno tune to fully get everything tuned correctly. As for the whole DSM manifold on a H22 engine, I wasnt sure but it's what i've been told so I asked. My original plan was to boost the stock F22 for maybe a year or so, just enough time to find a better motor on E-bay and take it to the bench and get new rods and pistons in it along with some head work and cam work.Been a long time. Still alive...

The thing is, these things never really go as planned. Especially the first time around, ask a number of members. Bjaccord, straightedge, myself, h22sparkle, and the list goes on. Not all of us have blown our engines, but I can tell you how many engines I have owned that had some blowby coming out the catch can not too long after I boost them. The only members who boosted the stock engine and had it last were MRX and 92ex. MRX even had his setup come to an end not too long ago. Both MRX and 92ex are great tuners with vast knowledge on their software.Originally posted by WilliamWI wasnt going to build up my F22, just the H22. Its not impossible for it to give you enough time. However, most times shit just happens. Nothing is ever predictable with these setups.

Thanks guys I'll probably wait until I get my engine and build it all up. In the mean time I think I'm going to get some tuning software and hardware and start rereading on how to tune. I want to do this right, but I also don't really want to blow an engine lol (like anyone does?) Hopefully I'll be able to get started sometime in the next year or so.Been a long time. Still alive...

Ahh, your hurting my feelings..... My motor lasted for nearly 3 years boosted, then I ran it out of gas at 10psi
I just never really advertised my setup until recently.
As for info for this thread, my advice is to not run the car out of gas while going full throttle at 110mph.

But see, you were a good example. You lasted 3 years. Some last only 2 months.Originally posted by bjaccordAhh, your hurting my feelings..... My motor lasted for nearly 3 years boosted, then I ran it out of gas at 10psi

X2, exactly! ( reading the thread and thought Id say something )Originally posted by bjaccordVery true. It's all in the research and quality of parts and workmanship that you put into the setup.
but you're right!...the amount of effort you put into something shows!
if you dont put much effort into something..it turns out crappy..or things go wrong!
Now, if you put forth ALOT of effort and hard work..it usually pays off! last a long while and shows QUALITY!
