From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

boosted H series on 91 octane

okay ladies and gents. i am one week away from boosting a USDM H22a4. other than a 5 angle valve job, its a stock engine. im sticking to one head gasket so the compression ratio is still 10 to 1. i would like to know, through fellow tuner's experience, the safe number of psi and horsepower to strive to put out on pump gas. the fuel system is upgraded to a walbro 255 with 550cc injectors, and the turbo is a T4OE.

You want to avoid detonation at all costs due to the h22 pistons weak ring landings and tend to be the first thing to go under boost. Just have it tuned by a reputable tuner and I wouldn't go past 10psi on 91 octane gas and that compression ratio.

i was aware of everything you said EXCEPT the 10psi part. you are actually the first person to suggest 10 pounds. i hear 7 or 8 psi is PUSHING it. of course i know the proper tuning is ESSENTIAL, but do you have any idea as to at what psi the ring lands give out?

10 PSI is doable BUT if you romp on it constantly your asking for something to give out. 7-8psi is kinda safety cushion. But a reputable tuner is always nice for tuning as accord SIR said.

also, i was going to use the 95 accord 5speed tranny. i was wondering if i had to use an H22 flywheel or if the F22 flywheel is okay to use.

Offcourse 10psi is max, if daily 7psi would be enough. The f22 and h22 flywheel is the same.

sweet. these rice burners out here are in for a surprise. they havent seen a BOOSTED DUAL CAM ACCORD out here. but back east, you guys do it like its second nature. question, i was checking into maybe lowering the compression a little. does anyone have any idea how much two stock head gaskets will lower the compression ratio to? it shouldnt be much, but i am curious...

You are looking to get a blown head gasket that way. Get a thicker Cometic head gasket. And to lower compression you might want to look into low compression pistons for the h22. Mhale gold series pistons will work with the h22 stock sleeves.

detonation is usually a small, sharp, thin edge (they heat up faster) in the combustion chamber that acts as an igniter.

the valve job won't really aid in controlling detonation and if you bump your timing down too low, you may melt your manifold.

the BEST "trick" to keep detonation at bay is to simply get rid of as many sharp edges in the combustion chamber. smoothing off the edges of the cylinders and around the valves in the cc of the head will make a huge difference. i had detonation problems with my xr4ti and the timing and boost were something i wasn't going to sacrifice, but after i took a dremel and rounded everything off a bit, it disappeared.

another trick is to add a gallon of race fuel to your tank of gas. i had a gas station that sold it locally and it wasn't a big deal, but can be annoying. octane booster is shit though.

but while it's apart, just smooth off all the sharp, thin, easily heated angles and it will make a difference and isn't much work

actually, the thicker a head gasket is, the easier it is to blow out.

less than 10:1 compression will be very counterproductive at that boost level too.

most people aim for 9-9.5:1 with boosted 4 cylinders, but they're running 20psi too. that compression is what's going to get you off the line fast until the turbo is wide open
