Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

engine operation problems with aftermarket camshaft

Ok so I really need my car running by next week. The following mods have been done within the last month.

    F22A1
    NGK Plugs and wires
    Delta 272 Cam
    Bisimito Valvespring
    Bisimoto Retainers
    Cometic 85mm Headgasket
    ARP Head Bolts
    Skunk 2 Cam Gear
    F22A6 IM
    Gutted/jb welded IAB plate
    Megan Exhaust
    AEM Filter Oil Type
    Looped TB coolant lines
    Glowshift sandwich adapter
    Magnetic oil drain plug
Bisimoto Intake Manifold Heat shielding gasket
    F22A4 Header
Running a PT6 (have a P06 but dont have money to geet it chipped and tuned right now.)

I also have an AEM fuel rail that is not on the car, I have a liquid filled fuel gauge that is going on tomorrow most likely. And I have a B&M adjustable FPR that I might throw on because as of now it sounds like im starving for fuel.

At idle the car is at about 600rpm. Sounds clean, but when I accelerate a little i get a backfire out the exhaust and it feels like its misfiring on the pedal. I throw it into drive and the car goes nowhere. The idle drops and I stall out. I turn it on again and the car idles fine for a bit then again goes to about 500-600 rpm.

The last time I turned it on it was taking it a couple of seconds to go from 500 rpm to about 2k rpm. it would accelerate slow, But after it passed that initial phase it sounded great at 5k rpm. then i throw it in drive again and cant go anywhere because the idle drops to about 200rpm and it takes it like 2 minutes to go higher than that at WOT.

I had a code for the TPS but thats cause one of my hoses was connected wrong. I fixed that and reset the ECU. The code went away and it did the same thing. I am going to be going 5sp soon but I need to see if this thing is going to run it automatic seeing as I am broke as fuck right now and am running out of options.

Any help is appreciated. If you need any more info let me know. Im gona post a video as soon as I can.

I'd put money on it that the timing is off.

      I agree with this.

Also you can see if your car is running too rich or too lean by pulling the spark plugs. if they are very light colored it is too lean, if they are black it is too rich... generally.

Also your title for this thread has nothing to do with with what you are asking. I stumbled into it thinking I could help you with a cam install.

Do you have to degree a regrind cam? I know you do with others.

I am going to double check my timing again and I realized my title sounded wierd after I created it :/

I had standard copper plugs and they came out black the first time I started the car, but that was cause I was off on my wires. I swapped to Iridium plugs and the car is running lean cause they were whiter in color than normal

I never have although it's probably not a bad idea to it couldn't hurt. Both of my 272s (A6/B1) Were a pain to work with the LSA is like 108 they really need a tune, but i know you can manage to get a decent idle and running car it just takes some fine adjustments.

Also i used oem valve lash specs/slighty tighter i didn't use delta's. I got this info from Hondafan81.

il try that next. .009 and .011 I tried stock, I tried tighter and it doesnt hurt to try that one next. I didnt see that I need to degree the cam upon install, but I did get a lot of threads on different forums saying that i will most likely need a tune. i am off timing, i am pretty sure since I forgot that I had to advance my timing on the dizzy side. when I was at tdc it would idle at 200rpm and i advanced the dizzy and it evened out a little. I will adjust it later. if this doesnt work I will switch to my a1 cam until I can get it to a tuner.

Just make sure #1 is at TDC you can use the old dipstick trick to find if it is or isn't the rest is in the cam/igntion timing where most mess up. Sounds like you are off a few teeth a timing light would be idea, at BTDC you will lose lowend up to about 2500'ish with the timing dead on.

I feel like I am off a tooth or 2. I am going to remove the belt and start over. i was at tdc on the block but I think the head was off a tooth or 2. I will double check it though. I will set it to tdc and then I am going to try advancing and retarding it by a degree or two. il see what effect i get. I know I need more gas though cause I am running really lean.

Your timing is retarded to much hints no lowend whatsoever. Once at BTDC i had to advance mine 3-5 degrees to keep some lowend 2000rpm's on it should pick back up compared to loss of alot more lowend when its at BTDC. You will need a tune, but getting it to be DD friendly is do able.

I was off a tooth on the head..adjusted it and turned over good..didnt get a chance to test drive but will tomorrow..

Another thing i was watching was that fuel pressure was dropping as i got into 4k rpm..any reason why that happens?
