is this enough for 15's w/ auto

    Hey guys.
I don't wanna build a full out racer with the F22, but 15's would be nice.
    Would I/H/E+
    h22/23 auto tranny,
    272 cam
    uber'd ecu from mrx
    h22/23 tcu...just so i could shift higher.
be enough to get a full weight auto into the mid 15 area?
was also thinking a higher stall convertor since i wanna switch transmissions.
if i do get a higher stall convertor...do i get one for a f22 tranny or h22/23 tranny?

    just so you know...i have a 92 EX with a A6.
are there milder cams than the 272? and i would guess that i should get a cam gear as well.

lol yea 15's w/o a doubt.....ALTHOUGH!!!!!!!!!!! it all depends on the driver and how well maintenance has been kept up. with an auto u can even get into the 12's!!!!!!!! search around.....there have been a few that have gotten 11's, 12's but more along the lines of 13's with Fblocks and auto. u need to get a custom auto tranny though! bery bery expensive. but it can be done......where there is a will there is a way

if u do fuel system and ignition yes......totally didn't c u haven't done that......it's late lol.....get some fuel and ignition mods and no doubt in my mind u can get 15's.....stock runs anywhere from 16.8-17.3 fyi and thats for an auto......hpaccord ran around 17 with his basically stock auto f22.
i need to run mine soon.....ugh

why would it need fuel mods? the stock injectors can't handle an intake and exhaust? a msd might help some though.
my f22a6 is in pretty much perfect condition. it's only got 75000 on it.

hatchninja...I/H/E with a cam and h22 auto tranny isn't enough to get mid 15's?

it's not that the injectors can't handle it but with the better airflow u need better fuel and spark.....the three things that basically run the engine. i noticed a decent gain in performance when i installed my aem fuel rail, venom injectors (265cc) and aem fpr. that coupled with the I/H/E and my msd ignition setup made for a sweet hp gain. i think my best mod so far has been the UR pulleys but yea......what u have right now and what u say u plan on may not get u into the 15's.....def low 16's but no 15's.
as to the camshaft, 272 is about right for N/A some go for 262-265 but 272 is fine for daily driving....idle will be alittle off but no worries. as for cam gear, that would help with tuning especially since u getting a chipped ecu. It's all in the tuning!!!

IF the motor is beat then no... but if it's in decent condition... depending on elevation, weather conditions and driver ability...

high 15's in an auto are def possible with those mods...but prob not with interior.

The most important factor is driver ability... go get some base runs in and see what the car is capaable of... and what you're capable of... once you start getting lower times and fairly consistant and you arent shaving off much time at all is when you should start modding and aiming for 15's... not before... until that happens mid 15 seconds is just some arbitrary number...

but with some not so drastic weight reduction it is def possible with those mods IMHO...consider losing the PS (at least the belt) and the A/C too...

That's pretty bad if i couldn't get into the 15's with that amount of mods. considering that the f22 makes about 140HP crank. with those mods i would think would put it atleast 160HP crank and with the h22 tranny should help with the acceleration because of the shorter gears.
i understand about the fuel thing, but i guess i was thinking that you could tune the stock injectors to perform better with such simple mods. i also want to do this full interior because i stripped one of my cars before and well...never put it back in...hahaha.

the 140 crank is about 110-120 whp btw...talk to hondafan about that one!!!!! 140hp is a big misconception with our cars. 110-120 is not too good. again it depends on the condition of the motor.

you're not factoring in the ridiculous powertrain loss thru the auto (read:slushbox)...

Go take a look at auto dyno's vs. manual dyno's and you'll see drivetrain losses as high as 40% in some cases...

Just because you are at the hypothetical 160hp doesn't mean you'll be putting down numbers comparable to a similarly or even slightly less modded manual... in fact you'd have to make more power than a manual tranny car just to be even with it...

Exactly... I've seen bolt on modded auto's dyno in the 90 hp range... pitiful... that's civic territory... bleh...

Moral of the story: Slushboxes suck for power and don't compare manual car numbers to a slushbox. EVAR!

heheheh with that said....i'm keeping my car auto lol i like to take the less traveled route. if u get yourself a good auto tranny custom of course u can really get some good shit.....and yea auto sucks when it comes to putting down the power but the 110-120 WHP is for the auto's...it a little higher for the manuals.....although i have seen some poor beatin auto's as low as 105ish.... ugh o well

arent u worried with revving so high with the h tranny and ecu that your gonna blow your bottom end, ive blown 2 accord engines and 1 civic engine from high revving, and it was allways the rods always. the heads are pretty much solid on these cars. also about the loss of power with auto, if your giong h tranny, the h tranny is built for sport, so im thinking its not going to be a total slushbox, thiers a difference in a ferrari automatic transmission and a ford escort auto. So i think you could be at manual like performance from the h tranny. plus the stall converter, although ive never heard of those in imports. Anyways with a stock f22b dohc and auto, i ran a 15.7 (crappy tires and my timing needed work) thats rated at about 160 crank hp (give or takke a few hp) and im sure those mods add up to 20 horsepower gain. so yes, id say its doable.
