Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

Pistons - What to look for?

For a naturally-aspirated 10-11:1 compression build up, what information is a need to know on choosing pistons?

    Same question on piston rings.

I obviously haven't built performance motors for a living and haven't tried & true anything, but maybe some of you have and I'd like to know what your outlook on these questions may be.

    Thanks.

Well, I've been told that F22 sleeves are supposedly made of a composite iron and that if I go forged pistons, the cylinder walls will wear fast. The way to get around this is to coat the forged pistons so wear is reduced and life is prolonged.

I will have to look into this more myself, but I am not about to resleeve my F22a1 block to fit higher compression pistons in. It'll cost like $1500 total for sleeves, sleeve installation + shipping costs, etc.

This definitely goes against my budgeting plans. As I see it, if I sleeve the block, why not just go all out on the setup & get crazy?!?! This is exactly what I don't want to get into....I want to remain realistic or this whole project won't ever become a reality.

Anyhow, what is everyone's take on this matter? Is this true? Has anyone installed forged pistons in stock sleeves, and if so how long did they last you? I want legit answers please.

no that's the h22/h23. Forged pistons are fine in the f's.

I know that the H22 has FRM sleeves and that is why it is supposedly now capable. I know that our F22 Accords have iron cyliinders, but I have heard from someone that they are COMPOSITE iron and not a ductile iron, thefore they say forged pistons will wear the cylinders walls fast because forged pistons should go with DUCTILE iron.

Anyone have anything to say on this? Any experience in dropping in aftermarket forged pistons in a stock sleeved F22 block?
