Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

can you run Nitrous on a stock JDM H22A?
or you have to put all new fuel management system...head work and block work?

Can you have it turbo'd also!?

Yes you can run Nitrous on a stock, JDM H22A. You can also run nitrous with a turbocharger, however your bottom end will need some rebuilding.

          Wow, lots of questions!

I wouldn't run anything more than a 50 shot of nitrous on a stock H22 (in fact, I may be doing that this summer...) 75 might be ok if the engine is in good shape, and it was VERY infrequent. Still, that's a little more wear than I would care to put on my engine. 50 is pretty safe, and if you don't abuse it, it shouldn't decrease the life of your engine considerably.

Nitrous is good for turbo as well, and I'm told a 50 shot adds more than 50hp with a turbo engine. That's from a reliable source, but not experience, so don't quote me on it (Fushigi, if you can confirm or deny that, it would be great!) Turbo alone would require a buildup of the bottom end if you wanted to justify the cost of the turbo system (and be safe in case of boost creep). So, if you boost your H22, you would more than likely have a buildup anyway. If you don't build it, and hope to stay within the 6psi safety range, then nitrous would be more of a strain than you would want to put on your engine.

A quality buildup (from my estimates) would cost you nearly $10,000 to do it right. That's part of the reason why I don't want to go turbo (shite gas mileage is the other). It IS possible to have it done for less (h22sparkle paid a little over $5000, I believe) but I wouldn't go cheap. Quality parts and labor are necessary to put a Honda engine under that kind of torture. These engines aren't designed for turbo, so they need work and care to be capable.

The JDM H22 has a high compression of 10:6:1 I believe. The FRM sleeves in the H22 do not allow for forged pistons to be used, so resleeving the block is necessary. You CAN get some pistons that would work from JUN, I believe, but expect to pay $1000+ for them.

Popular knowledge is that you can run up to a 75 shot on a stock h22a or at least that's what I did on mine with the following: one step colder plugs (7s instead of 6s) walbro 190 lph fuel pump (did this primarily cause the stock pump was old. If the stock pump is good, it'll flow enough for a 75 shot.) No ignition retard and an msd window switch so I'd only activate between 3500 and 7400 rpm.
