    4" to 5" Drop

I want to lower my car 4 to 5 inches w/ coilovers and my factory struts except one is low on one side. Will I need new struts to keep the suspension right and on track?

dude if u read any post on the suspension thread it says u cannot use new springs like lowering coilovers on stock shocks they will blow not long after u put the springs on.. u actually expect to get 5" lower on a cb?? hah i wanna see this

hehehe....there wont be any travel with a 5'' drop so maybe it wont matter
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

i believe the coilovers that go lowest only 4 inches... any lower you'll have to go air.

expect a pretty harsh ride that low.

although coilovers can be adjusted for a 4-5" drop, on normal roads, this will be the most useless suspension setting. Normal roads require cosiderable suspension travel; really low cars actaully have pretty bad street performance. Albeit, if you were on a silky smooth race track you might like it.

...and this is probably what you want:

If you want a competent suspension system good enough for a 5" drop, you are going to have to spend several grand for a racing setup. Otherwise, there is the Tein lineup, Koni cup kit, Function & Form Autolife Type II Coil-overs. The autolife's might be a pretty good buy.

you will never be able to align that and you will destroy tires in a month or less, depending on how many burnouts you do.

If you want that kind of drop get a $40 set off of ebay.

I'm a lowrider fanatic and a 4" drop for that low stance would look good with my 1991 17-spoke OEM wheels and I'm thinking about adding low profile tires.

I'm not seeing the connection. Sure, low looks good but to get down to 4 or 5" of drop you are going to have to go air (or like lokuputha said, go full race and spend a poopload)

Just don't expect to have any kind of bearable ride, it's going to be super harsh either way.

Ok, one last question. How many inches would you guys consider low enough so there's no tire/fender rubbing action or better yet, knocking a hole in the oil pan?
