i just read in motortrend i think it was, that if when you install new springs to tighten everything with the car on the ground, vs. tightening nuts and bolts with the wheel hangin. When i had my springs installed i don't think the guys did this because my car hardly looks dropped at all. the article says that there is almost a lift effect by doing this in-correctly. i have the sportline springs w/kyb-agx shocks. anybody else have this experience???

i recently changed out my rear springs, did everything in the air with the "wheel hanging":

before "settling of shocks and springs"

    after settling:

moral of the story- you have to allow some driving and some time to see the drop.

i don't see how you could tighten everything with the car on the ground anyway... it'd be a much more difficult job than it already is, lol.

J, motortrend or whatever magazine you got that from may be talking out of their ass. You cant generalize about suspension (especially on newer cars) cause there's so many factors involved. I did my springs w/ the wheels hanging, no prob. Most people do. I think ull be arite.

el, urs settled alot. The front do that too?

neuspeed sport springs are said to give a 1.75 inch drop in the front, and 1.5 inch drop in the rear.

i've had the springs on for like a year+, and the shocks like 6 months. I just thought it would look lower by now.
This kid at school drives a 96 teg, he said he took the bumpstops out and it lowered his ride, that can't be healthy, you ever done that uncle_el.??

mmm... the shocks and springs have been on for a while. from your 1st post, it seemed as though you had just put them on.
my pics are within hours of each other (about an hour and a half).

in any event, i think you should post pics, preferably before and after pics, so we can really "see" if there's a difference or not. i personally abhor the use of "fingers" to talk about wheelgap, as the size of fingers aren't universal. but in any event...

i don't know much about sportline springs, but i assume that like many manufacturers, they have different sets of springs- a basic drop (i.e. less than an inch), a sporty drop (i.e. more than one inch, less than 2 inches), and an extreme/race drop (i.e. more than 2 inches). i'm not sure which one you have, but knowing the drop that sportline claims would be good.

taking bumpstops out may drop it a bit. when i put the koni yellows on with the help of h23accord, we realized after getting everything bolted in that we forgot to put the bumpstops on. i haven't noticed extreme harshness of ride quality or increased noise. i can't compare the springs with and without bumpstops though.

synopsis: pics, determine which sportline springs, holla back

neuspeed sportsline, (green ones) on 17" Motegi w/205/40. My car pics are in the members rides,(i think you even posted them for me months ago) and cardomain(cut and paste link). I still have'nt figured out how to post new pics on cb7. ANyway those pictures are right after i got the new shocks, my stockers were blown and my car used to look dropped, the new dampers set it back up.

P.S. I just updated cardomain, the third page has a good side view and you can see that big azz gap

you've gotta be proactive about posting pictures...
there's a how to post pics thread in the member's ride forum. posting pics on here is just like on any other web forum.

neuspeed has 3 different lines of springs: sofsport, sport, and race. there's no sportline. so either someone sold you something else, or you have neuspeed sport springs.

kyb agx shocks are adjustable. what setting do you have them on? if not at their lowest, that could be part of the problem. i don't know the length of the shocks, but that could also play a role as well.

i believe the sport.... 1.7&1.5........the front KYB's on 2 rear on 6, i bought the springs from JcWhitney, and shocks from Summit, the rear's are 8 way which i have not seen on other KYB AGX. I think settings 7 and 8 are for track use, its too damn harsh. I will search for pic posting, thanks.

if you think the lower settings on the shocks are too harsh, you won't get any increased drop. it's a battle, and you have to decide if it's worth it.

i posted the link on how to post pics in my previous post, so no searching for it needs to be done.
