    Broken stud question.

Okay, so earlier today I was trying to take my wheel off when I stripped the threads on the studs, now I guess I have to replace that. So how much of a bitch is it to replace that?

Just buy one, take the wheel off spin the rotor with the stripped stud towards the bottom, get a rubber hammer and hit a few times, bend the splash shield if you have to. Place tire back on and tighten the lug nuts.

I was moving the other day to my new apartment when I found the wheel studs I removed for some one at a KC meet. That was fun. My first meet and I'm replacing lug studs

Seriously, it's a beat it out part, and then you can just use the lug nut to pull in back on.
Been a long time. Still alive...

sorry for bumping the thread, but this thread really saved my ass today.

see, in my province, winter tires are mandatory, as important as registration. get caught driving in the snow with all season tires = big trouble

anyway i had to pick up my fiance from work this afternoon, but was having trouble changing my tires. one of the studs got stripped really bad, and the other broke clean off. what the fuck! with only an hour left, i start making frantic phone calls. not only am i panicing because i have to pick up my woman, but i have movers coming soon, and i have work monday (the auto stores being closed sunday). im calling around looking for a whole spindle, finally i called honda directly and they said i cant get one until monday. so i come here to my homepage, and search for a quick fix.

this thread told me to beat the old studs out and just stick new ones in. i call my local part store, and they have my studs for $2.50!! i run my ass over there and grab 4 of them. just in case.

from there it was a mere 15 minutes to finish my task. with time left over to make a post about my crazy day that was saved by my favorite car site in the whole world.

                i love you guys <3

I had one snap now this is hard to explain and i haven't got around to fixing it yet.
but when you hold the new replacement can the lock nut jiggle on the thread. mine has some play.
