    alignment

How do you adjust the rear alignment?

My driver side rear wheel is making a noise while driving that sounds similar to if it's brake was stuck on. But it's not the brake (yes I'm positive) and doesn't make this noise by hand turning it. It also doesn't do it under 20mph.

It's enough to make the whole car shake so I'm guessing the wheel is towed in or out.

I also thought maybe it was the rim or tire , but I tried the full sized spare and it's exactly the same.

YOU don't. You take it to an alignment shop who use the pivot bolt in the lower control arm to adjust the rear toe. Other than that your only option is to get an adjustable rear upper control arm.

So that's the bolt holding the control arm on under the rear door area?

Noise can be more related to something else like a wheel bearing. But if you say its at lower speeds then it may be that your not hearing a moan at higher speeds or something with the brake shoes hanging up that your not seeing.

If u say you turn wheel and you hear nothing..then it can be that it fixes itself when u upen the drum. .
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

exactly. a bad alignment wouldn't cause the symptoms you described. it sounds like something is broken, especially with that much vibration.

For kicks flip the tire to the ther side to eliminate the possible issues.

If you have another tire totally with a different rim put it on and see what happens

They are discs on the back , and as said before 100% certain it's not the brakes.

(I literally took the brake off the wheel to eliminate it as a possible cause and the car acts exactly the same.)

Would a bad bearing cause the whole car to shake? Keeping in mind it's max speed right now is about 25mph , I don't want to drive it any faster then 25 as it shakes so much.

I also just did an "eyeball" inspection and it looks as if both rear wheels are towed in. So If I can adjust that then it will help me in determining the cause of this noise and shake.

Ok so now I'm thinking it's the rear bearing maybe? if I spin it by hand it's just slightly harder to spin then the opposite side and makes a little more rumble then the opposite side.

I attempted driving faster then 30 but the whole car shook so bad it felt as if i had a flat tire. Which leads me to think it's a combination of a bad bearing and being towed in.

Can someone highlight what bolt has to be loosened/tightened to adjust the rear tow?

ok, now with what you described i will say first replace the bearing as it is done then go to have it aligned

also, if you go faster than 30 and let off the gas when it is shaking badly does the shake go away? if so the you might have a bad inner joint on your drive axle in the front making the car shake violently, happened to me

The car doesn't physically go faster then 30.... As previously stated it shakes as if I had a flat tire.

you don't take advice, do you? YOU don't adjust alignment (ESPECIALLY if you are asking these questions), you take it to an alignment shop that has a specially-made rack and laser alignment system.
