    recommendations for shocks

My current set up is as follows. When I bought my cb9 it had "rims" on it that I'm sure 16 year old thought were cool but I didn't so the owner put the stock wheels back on before I bought it.

Now ever since i bought it 4 years ago , the rear shocks felt basically solid. Every little bump in the road makes such a loud thump. The front two springs were broken so I replaced them with junkyard springs I found. Knew absolutely nothing about the springs I bought , just saw a cb7 , saw the springs weren't broken , so bought them. They make all kinds of funny gong noises every now and then.

Now years ago I drove a cb7 that had 4 broken shocks , but it just floated over the bumps like a caddiliac even though the shocks were all broken. I want that experience.

I would like a recomendation for very soft shocks. I want the car to feel like a 70's station wagon. Don't care about handling at all. I just want the thing to be comfy to drive. Even softer then stock.

I have Megan EZ, but setting them to the softest setting is not as soft as my KYB struts I bought for my turn around car I'm driving atm. I found them on Rock Auto, they are called GR-2 / Excel-G and it was the strut only. I had to use a spring compressor to remove the old and replace with the new, but I like them so far.

ah see I'm basically going to need the whole thing. my springs are also just junkyard/miss match springs.

Much of the comfort comes from the tires as well. Going too soft on the shocks can cause an unsafe condition in which your suspension cannot properly handle an abrupt turn. It's pretty much a moot point, though, as you're not going to find anything softer than OEM. My recommendation is to get a matching set of Tokico blues and Michelin MXV4 tires. They're somewhat expensive, but they will ride incredibly quiet and comfortably.
My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

FYI, CB9 rear springs are stiffer than CB7 rear springs(due to it being a wagon and having some increased load carrying capacity).

I LOVE my Bilsteins, although they're a bit expensive and are pretty harsh with stock or soft springs. I won't touch Tokico's, I'm just not a fan of them at all. KYB GR-2's are inexpensive and may be the way to go. On Tirerack here. Monroe's are actually a pretty decent shock for DD duties. Check rockauto.com as well, they're usually cheaper than almost anywhere else.

As Jarrett said, choosing the right tire will go a LONG way towards comfort. I try to stick with Bridgestones on stock Honda's, but only because Michelin's are just too expensive for my blood 90% of the time. Honda did lots of testing on Bridgestones back when these were designed.
