    Tein SS coilover Question

okay, so for the last couple months i've been looking towards getting the Tein SuperStreet coilovers with damper and pillowball mounts. I just reviewed the spring rates and they are 6K, 340 LBS/in in front and 5K, 280 LBS/in in rear. my question would be does having the front stiffer mean i would have more understeer? Im really hoping for a more neutral or prone to oversteer feel. i know with the FF cars its hard to totally negate the understeer. im also planning on adding a progress rear sway for the setup, as well as eventually changing the control arms and bushings, i also currently have a front upper megan racing strut bar. My car is going to be competeing in some time attacks locally within a year, so i would like to have my suspension tuned by then so i can just focus on getting my H duce duce soon after. i've already perused the suspension FAQ links here on CB7tuner as well as the ones on Honda-tech, but if theres any other sites that you could recommend to me, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

You also have to take into considersation that the Accord is front heavy.

You can also change the dampening force.

All i can say is d2's/K-sports. But I will tel you the big secret about good times. Suspension is the least thing you should worry about. Tires come first, dealing with cb7's body roll comes next. The least expensive and bst mod you could ever do is extend you wheel bast via wheel spacers.

Some other things to consider. Pillow ball mounts are useless on any A-arm suspension set up. So paying extra for this feature on a set up is plain stupid.

To answer your question about the stiffer spring in the front. Most front wheel drive cars not 50/50 weight distributed. This is why the front springs are stiffer. Looking at the tein specs I would say it is not still enough in the front compared to the back. remember the front of an accord weights 1.8 times as much as the back.

I have ridden with tein ss on. The ride is very comfortable compared to stiffer coilovers. I have ridden with omin's, d2, megan and its a whole different ball game.

Next the strut. There are a few different types of set ups. Mono tube. Dual tubes. In my experience mono tubes will will have a stiffer damper, But this comes at a price they do not react as quick as dual tube struts. Which one is better, its a matter of preference. I have noticed mono tubes ride smoother and are more comfortable.

        Edfc

thanks for the quick reply fellas. CBL you just taught me something about the pillowball mounts. however, EDFC is not compatable with the Tein SS without the pillows. now if your thinking the EDFC is useless because its not too hard to manually adjust the dampers, your right but im a lazy lazy bastard. also my parents take my car everynow and then so being able to quickly adjust the settings for them to drive would be worth it to me. as i already mentioned, i plan on time attacking this whip after i get my motor worked out, so also being on different courses, having the EDFC would be alot easier for me to quickly adjust my settings to better compliment the course. also thanks for clearing the stiff spring issue for me, i had forgot to take the FF variable into account. was reading on Honda-Tech and heard a lot about Teins that made me waver on my decision for a moment. thanks and sorry for the long winded posts.

one more thing, as far as understeer goes, how well do the tein SS perform in negating the horrible effects of understeer assuming there is a good suspension tune, also how would that compare to the full ride of an accord on tein SS with a progress rear sway as well as front upper strut bar and rear upper strut bar?
in the end i believe my full set up will consist of :
2point6's traction bar, front upper strut, rear upper strut, tein ss coilovers with or without the pillowball, progress rear sway, and possibly ST front sway if i decide it becomes necessary, also possibly energy suspension bushings and new lower control arms. how solid does my suspension theory sound?
          thanks in advance.

I have no experiance with progress, but they get my vote over st. For some reason my st bar hits my rear control arms when I go over bumps. Generaly having a stiffer set up in the back will greatly reduce understeer. With my tanabe coilovers on, when I take a cornor every one that watches swears that I am drifting. Like I said in my previous post widdening your front end wheel base will greatly reduce understeer.

Edcc was created for ride qaulity not for taking a corner fast. It adjust dampering forces according to speed. Not latteral g's. This is a nice if you dont wanna bounce on the freeway. Not so great when brakeing into a corner

I think I pretty much finnished up what I have to say on the matter. I fear that cb7 members are way behind in the world of suspention modifications. On my other car forms like hybridz these matters are adressed completely down to the mm of each strut tube. I dont wanna hate on my home here, so i will just blame it on front wheel drive and the rice tunning comunity.

I totally agree with cbl. If you are looking for ride comfort tein ss with edfc will work. If you have performance in mind I would recommend d2rs or ksports. they are cheaper than the teins and have a much stiffer stock spring rate. My setup is ksports/f/r st sways, prothane rear bushings, es front bushings, front and rear motor mount inserts, 2point6 traction bar, front strut bar, and soon to be rear strut bar....Tein used to have more options for our cars as far as suspension packages go, but only the ss/ss-p now which to me is not a viable option. My buddy does scca and other circuit racing stuff in his eg6 and is sponsored by zeal. He has experience with the tein ss and the d2rs/ksports and said not to go the teins because they are just too soft and overpriced. If you are really serious about a race setup shell out the money for zeals or another top end brand ($1800+).
