    coilover perch reliability(between 2 types)

if i do decide to get coilovers, i was wondering about the safety and reliability aspect of them. ive seen two types of locking perches.

    dual locking perch

or these... some sort of bolt inside to squeeze the perch together

i would prefer the second set, but i havent heard anything about them.

Dual lockingg are better because they will acually lock to stop the spring from working it loose. The single will eventualy deform the threads because you are acually squezing the sleve preventing ajustability thats why i went with the skunk2 over the ground control.

Back in the coilover days I had the GroundControl ones, like the second type, with one perch that you tighten a hex screw into. I never had a problem with them moving down the threads, that was even with the hex screws just hand tight.

I actually prefer those over the dual perches because all you need is a allen(sp) wrench to loosen the perch, then just rotate it up/down the sleeve, but the others you need the tool to unlock the perches and if you loose it, its either screwdriver and hammer method or buy a new tool, where the hex bolts wrenches can be bought anywhere.

            Just my 2cents.

yea its nice though never bottom out like all the other cars you see on the road. and they are solid as a rock going around a corner.

I have GC's(second type) on my bro's civic, and Skunk2's(first type) on my accord.

For the first type, sometimes its a pain to get the two locking perch's loose. Other than that its not bad.

For the second type, all you do is get an allen wrench, loosen it and turn it. Much easier than the first type.

I guess what it comes down to is price. Goodluck!!!

BTW, i dont recommend running spring rates of 650 unless you have some Koni yellows and maybe even rebuilt koni yellows.

what kind of shocks do you have?

and i guess im just going with the first type. im not too worried about ease of changing, cause once i find the height i like, its going to stay there.
