    front outer tie rod ends

i had the wheel off the other day on the passengers side, and noticed a little play in the wheel while my hands were in the 9-3 o'clock position. at first i was thinking wheel bearing (which it very well could be) but i looked around anyways. i grabbed the outer tie rod, and low and behold, i could twist it a good 5-10 degrees both ways, indicating a loose rod boot.

question: any recommendations on replacement tie rod ends? i don't want to have any trouble with them any time soon once they are on and aligned. i can get both outer ends for $80 at Advance; it's the TRW brand.

I think your tie rods are fine. it is designed to turn like that, you want to check for horizontal play.

      i agree.

thats the whole point of a BALL joint, for it to have that range of motion. if it gets worn down, the ball will be loose inside of the arm and will bounce around and eventually pull out... check for obvious looseness, but if its pivoting solidly, its fine

shocks/springs and most likely swaybar bushings.

          also check tread and PSI.

that motion you specified.... 9 and 3 o clock...was it IN and OUT...or up and down??

if its in and out...( wheel bearings )...

up and down ....bottom of wheel inwards and outwards "camber movements" ( tie rod and/or wheel bearing )

shocks are new, as well as EnergySuspension swaybar endlinks. tires are at 90% and psi is in check.

i'd have to say neither. i had my hands at 9+3, and when i push with my left at 9, it moves in; then when i push with my right hand on 3, it moves in. so it's sort of wiggling

edit: and i'm positive the lug nuts are on tight
