Rim question

My buddy is giving me some rims too work on his car but im not sure if they will fit. The Diameter is:17.0",Width:7.0" and Offset: +42 and 4x114.3...It also doesnt have tires so im woundering what size tires i could use if i can use the rims and my car is gonna be droped 1'5 inchs in the spring when i would use the rims. Thanks

You're dropping your car 1'5 inches? So, 1 foot 5 inches? That's a crazy drop. :P

I would think you could get away with using a 205/40/17 or something close to that with no problems.

205/40/17, 205/45/17, or 215/45/17 will work. The taller and wider ones MIGHT rub on your splash shield if you turn the wheel too far (I had some wheels that were .5" wider, and i was about .3" lower, running 205/40/17, and they rubbed on a full-lock turn.)
