    Keeping painted rims new

Hey, everybody... I just bought some Motegi MR-7 14" wheels for winter, 185/70/14

I need the traction, I live on a steep hill, and CT has snow and ice.

One guy I talked to said that painted wheels are not good for winter, the salt they put on the roads, abrasion from sand... and the company won't honor the warranty, etc. and the wheels will rust.

Well, the Motegis were the only thing in my price range that looked decent, so I bought them anyway.

Now... how do I keep these things looking good five years from now?

The wheels in the picture are not the Motegi, they're my summer Enkei set, and they're not painted... they look like stainless steel, but not sure exactly.

My winter Motegis I don't have a picture of yet, but that's what's painted.

The 7 spoke wheels are painted... the fancier ones are polished metal, but just summer tires, no traction at all in snow or ice. Two years ago, I left them on one day too long and got into a fender-bender.

Motegi MR-7, 180/75/14, Kelly Explorer tires. We'll see how they do getting up the hill when it snows Monday.
