    please dont get pissed

okay with all the threads on swaps there is a lot of confusion here. i went online to look for a new engine in my 91 lx. originally iwas looking for a f22a1. right below the f22 was an f20a1 for far less about 250 less than the f22. what gives? is this the engine in the swaps faq that makes more hp? why so much cheaper. and again please don't get pissed but a friend of mine said it is a driect bolt up to my tranny ecu etc. is this true. thank you almighty cb7 gods. am gonna go sacrifice a virgin for you guys...

similar hp, less torque, and yes it will work with your tranny. some people on here have done it i do believe, and the f20a was the 2.0 si engine in japan, i think anyways.

i was thinking that too. but how far can you push a f22 mileage wise. this one only had 136,000 on it and already my rod is knocking. granted i am the second owner but man; 136000 and we are at failure.?!! it aint a cavalier!!! wtf.

check the mileage (sp?) thread...it is there you will find your mileage answer.

the f-series engines can last forever.. It just depends on how it was taken care of and if it was beaten on.

290k right here, and for about the past 50k miles it has been driven hard by 2 teenagers.

cpmike had over 250k on his when he drove it from NY to MD... 5 hours straight, and he was revving to like 7k! (well, high, anyway )

The F series engines are some of the longest lasting engines I have ever seen. The F22A4, from what I've read and heard, is the weak link (alb_accord knows a bit about that). The A1 and A6 are awesome however. That's not to say that problems don't occur... They will with any engine that old.

If you want to be different, get the F20. It IS an interesting swap, since it is so uncommon. However, the F22A1 would be the most direct swap, and it would be guaranteed to work well (if the engine is in good shape, anyway)

Well, maybe not all of them... I've been told of some issues with the exhaust valve clearance with those engines though. Teh A6 is DEFINITELY a major improvement on the design. However, I'm proud to say (as an LX owner) that of all the CB7s I know, the A1s seem to be the least troublesome That really doesn't mean anything at all, but I'm an A1 fan (Went from F22A1 to H22A1 )

f22a4 mmmmmmmmm where do u want me to start. they are supposely good engines. most them are. but the major problem that this engine can have is at its rods. as the engine gets older one of the rods will fail. this will make the piston travel higher that it should. by doing this it will hit the exaust valve which closes up while the piston is coming up.. <<<<i know this by experience. if u search here u will find a guy in canada who was looking for the head engine for a f22a4. the reason is because of the broken exaust valve. his had 2 i belive(don't quote me on that) i know two other guys here in philly that had the same problem with their exaust valves being broken.

and by the way. i changed the head engine twice. 2 different exaust valves and it still broke the same valve at the same #1 piston.
the exaust valve broke everytime i came out of the high way.

this concluded that the rods was going to fail at high rpm.
i belive that if my car was only street driven then my engine would have lasted a little bit longer. right now i have a a1.

my first dx was driven like crazy by the first owner and was driven twice as creazy by my brother. and it lasted.
