H23A BLOCK + H22A HEAD what do you people think? i seen it done. i seen it done built/turbo pushing about 390 to the wheels everybody wants to do a f22a block h22a head. but what about this set-up. i rather do this set-up. seeing that i have to h23 motor right know. the h23 block are closed deck and the h22/f22 are open deck. which in my eyes its a stronger block. and can rev a lil more than any f series.

No the H22A reaches it's USDM redline at 6800 rpm. That however is not where it stops making power. My JDM H22A on stck cams made power all the way up to 7200 rpm. The H23A can not rev high enough to take full advantage of the H22A head, neither can the F22.Originally posted by oneoffaccord
the h22 makes it power at 6800 rpm and the h23 does it at 6200 rpm. there really isnt the need to rev it that high anyway? if you make the power at that given piont. the block in my eyes are stronger (h23). closed deck vs open deck.
About the H23A being stronger then the F22A. Perhaps but N/A I don't see how you would see cylinder pressures strong enough to crack the sleeve at it's weakest point (the top). The H23A being closed deck would be a better engine suited for boost in it's OE state however it will not take that kind of abuse like an engine that was designed to be FI.

u are right on the h22 redline. i was talking about the usdm. so y is everybody in ther mother wan the f22 bottom. i think that the strokes are the same. i got to make sure on that. so what would use for the head swap h23 or f22? cylinder head pressures would be more of a hassle in a f22 rather than a h23. dont you think. closed vs open deck is a big piont here. thats y they make a cyinder head brace for the h22/f22a/b/b16/17/b18's for added stiffness. h23 dont need that.?Originally posted by BustedLX

1st gen H22A's and H23A's don't use block gaurds because they are all closed deck. Newer H22A's and several other Honda's use open decked blocks and there for would benefit from the added rigidness a block gaurd can provide even though it will create a hot spot there.Originally posted by oneoffaccord

The reason people prefer the F22 is because they are dirt cheap and use Iron sleeves.

true true im goin to stick wihth the h23 torque is the key to success. you can rev high but you need to go somewhere. f22 has torque but the h23 has more at a differnet rpm. good with the h22. it may not be revvy like the f20a/b but the torque moves you. right or wrong?Originally posted by BustedLX
