Anybody ever hear of this motor. What are the hp and tq numbers on it? how is it as far as a swap into our cars? found one with real low miles for $390 and was wondering if its a good oppurtunity.

Don't think there's a F20B DOHC non-VTEC. The only F20B that I'm aware of that's DOHC has VTEC.
There is a F20A DOHC non-VTEC though.
Edit:
Let me guess, you're looking at this engine?

If so, the description is wrong. It's a JDM F22B, DOHC non-VTEC.Last edited by JoshM; 11-11-2009, 05:06 PM.

Thats definatley not an f22b pictured. look at the powersteering setup and intake manifold, it's either a f20a or they've fucked up at the honda plant. lol.Originally posted by JoshM View PostDon't think there's a F20B DOHC non-VTEC. The only F20B that I'm aware of that's DOHC has VTEC.

F20a has about 125 hp. it's the same as a f22a but revs a little higher. had one int he project car and then sold it for 300.Originally posted by deevergote View PostF20A has higher compression, about 150hp, and is a decent swap. Nothing special, but not terrible. The price isn't bad, if it's in good shape.
However, seeing as it seems the seller doesn't even know what they have, I don't know that I'd trust it.

yea, i want to stay with a non vtec motor but i want a dual cam. so ive been looking at the jdm f22b, h23a, and f20a. i want to go N/A with nos and show that vtec isn't necessary to make good all motor power. and i just dont dig single cams so...i guess this is another good option.

The F22A, which is SOHC, has a better port design and valve angle than the DOHC relatives.
Not that you can't make power with the DOHC... but you're going into it with less overall potential. The only good side is that you'll be working with 150-160hp from the start.
The F20A revs nicely, but it's lacking torque due to the smaller displacement.
The F22B is decent all around.
The H23A1 has the most torque, but it has FRM sleeves (fantastic for strength and cooling, but limits your piston options without resleeving), and it's a USDM motor... so finding one with low mileage, and one that wasn't beat to hell, will be a chore.
None of them are bad choices... but you should really examine exactly what you want out of your car before you commit. Is it more important to you to have a powerful NA motor regardless of what it is, or is it more important to you to do this with a less common motor to prove your point?

I had the f22b dohc. I was supa happy, it filled my bay up like no 2morow.
But the motor itself was bad. So I then swapped for a 2.0 sohc, I bought it cuz the guy assured ill save gas. Boy was he wrong
plus who doesn't wanna save gas.
2 weeks later I found the 2.0 dohc, and I was pissed off, I shouldved done more research. I was a noob at the time.
What I love about F series motors that are non vtak is that they are all within 100-$150 price range of each other.
My f22b dohc was 750 shipped, my 2.0 was 640 shipped.
And honestly I couldn't gave been more happier with my 2.0 sohc. Granted it doesn't have twin B's like the jdm f22a but it loved the high revs. I used to redline @ least 1 day, I abused that motor like a whore abuse cock. Once I added the 11.5 fw wowzers huge diff.
