Hey to all repliers. Im thinking about swapping a f20b sir-t into my cb coupe. I have a great deal on the motor which has me kinda changing my mind on the jdm h22a swap that i originally planned. My question is whats the stock vtec crossover point?, can it be lowered to 5000 rpms stock without bogging?, and is the OFFICIAL stock rev limit 8200rpms? Thanks.

no, I've only ever ran mine on a chipped p28 that i had the fuel cut set at 8300, and why do you want it at 5000?

Honesty because the motor doesnt have the trans. im thinkin about running my stock trans on it until i come across the money for a m2b4, or m2s4 tranny. I honestly dont want a t2t4 tranny anyway. But the main point of lowering the crossover to 5k is so the motor doesnt fall out of vtec tho.Deucez Wyld!!! Please tell me, are my hazards working properly?

mine never did at 5500, also it wouldn't take but a second to get back up because of how fast the engine revsLast edited by almostJDM; 01-21-2011, 04:08 PM.

Lowering the VTEC crossover point will potentially put you under the VTEC powerband, rather than over the non-VTEC powerband... either way, you're going to experience a drop in power. It probably won't be TOO drastic, though.
You ARE aware that the F20B came in two varieties, right? The manual version had 200ps, and the automatic version had 180ps. The automatic versions are often the ones that you can find cheap (and the shady dealers will sell them as the 200ps version...) I believe much of that is in the cams.
Still, be sure you're getting the 200ps version, or be sure you'd be happy with the lower powered one, otherwise you're not getting much of a deal over simply getting an H22 (unless you're getting it REALLY cheap!)

Ok, cool.
Many people just assume that they are ALL the 200ps version (and like I said, many importers will lie to make the sale... especially those that are selling to the US from other countries...) I honestly don't know how to tell the difference myself, so if you do know, then you have one up on me!
Aside from being OBD2, and not having an equivalent OBD1 ECU like the H22 has, it's a good motor. If you're able to select your motor before you buy it (rather than having it shipped directly to you from places unknown), and you know what you're looking at... then I definitely say go for it.
Do you want to keep the F22 transmission for fuel economy, or just because you don't want to incur the expense of buying another transmission right now? You could always pick up an H22 or H23 transmission down the road and not worry about bogging out of VTEC.

The importers in my state so im gonna take a ride to them, I can say if its not the sir-t version im not purchasing it. As far as the tranny goes I dont have the funds for it as we speak, but i was thinking of purchasing one down the road. Like you said either an h23 or an h22 trans.
One other thing, their selling just the motor for 550
do you think for 200 more a jdm h22a is worth it?
Just the motor also.
