Well, I guess it is a definite on the boosted F22B1 for me. I ran across one today with 79K on it and I'm picking it up tomorrow......next thing Ill go with is either an off-the-shelf turbo or maybe even a homemade kit. Im nervous though......first swap, it will be my first turbo.....should be fun!

nirvo: I haven't done the swap yet so no times but I'm guessing any where between 210-220 whp. whats that like high 13's low 14's?

if you were to get a regular h22(lower that s compression), would you still upgrade internals before boosting? if not, id say just get the non-s. yea itll be a little less power right now, but you'd be saving money down the line when its time for f/i

I'm probably going to get a H22 from a wrecking yard and build it up a bit, port/polish the head , I only will have about $1600-1500 after I buy the engine so I don't have a lot of cash. I think I might go with Type S or Euro R internals, because I don't have the money to buy the forged pistons, rods and stuff like that. Any ideas or opinion would be helpful

I'm doing an F22B1 with H23/22 pistons (2.3L, 9.8:1, SOHC beast!), though I'm still in the build up stage... There is always this nagging little voice though... He says "260 HP TL Type S, J32 engine... No, no... It'll fit, I promise!! " But then my wife hears hime and slaps the crap out of him...

For my current daily driver Accord, I'm just your average H22 freak with all the usual bolt-ons. It's my daily driver so I don't have any future motor upgrades. Just upgrade the Brakes, suspension, finish the body work, and let it ride until something breaks.

For my race Accord, I still haven't decided on a motor, but I'm really leaning towards a C32 (NSX) or F20C (S2000). I know you guys are thinking that I'm totally full of shit, but if you saw some pictures of my totally stripped Accord, you'd understand the extent that I'm modifying it. THERE ARE NO LIMITS on this rebuild project. It will more than likely be Mid-engine, RWD but I haven't totally commited to that design yet. My goal for the project is to design and build an Accord that will SAFELY do speeds in excess of 210mph. The creative juices are forever flowing everytime I look at it, so I'll fill you guys in on all the details when I finnish up working on my daily driver first.

I really want to see a mid-engined RWD Accord! I don't doubt that it could be done, since anything could be done with enough money (and I'm sure it won't be cheap!) Is there any possibility of making it AWD? I think that would make it even more unique (and probably faster in the 1/4, unless the added weight wouldn't be worth it.)

As for my plans: I currently have a JDM H22 with a CAI and 2.5" exhaust. I'm playing with the idea of building a turbo system piece-by-piece, and running low boost (5-7psi) on stock internals until I can afford to build the engine. I hope to safely run 17-20psi, and I'm looking for 12 second slips (no less, I don't want a cage in my daily driver!)
I could really use some advice on building a turbo system, as well as building up my engine. I have a general idea of what's necessary, but I'm nowhere near comfortable with it yet! I made a post in the nearly-ignored Forced Induction forum. You can find a link in my sig

You know, there's quite a bit of power to be had out of one of the J Series engines... They have a pretty low compression ratio, and have a big torque advantage of ANY of the Honda 4Cyl engines. The problem with the C32 DOHC is the cost, and that they are already tuned to high performance. The Js aren't, so there is a lot more you can do with them.

I know the J series has some power... I raced a CL today (J32A1, I believe...) and he killed me! He was going from a slight roll, and I was at a dead stop, but I thought I should be able to pull ahead. I'd be curious to see what kind of power one of those could really put out. I never hear about anyone tuning the V6 Honda/Acura engines.

Yeah, RWD V8 Accords are are starting to become somewhat common. There's a guy that makes them regularly and I've seen about 5 posted on Ebay before. Nicely done! I gove the guy some mad props!

As for my setup, the reason I'm considering the C32 over a J32 is becuase I'm looking to have the motor in the 500-600 hp+ range and it will more than likely get boost from a supercharger since I plan to make it a highspeed car. I have seen some awesome results from boosted C32's and although they are pricey, it is DEFINITELY a valid option for me. For the race project, I don't care about 1/4mi. times and they would be terrible anyways unless I had a separate tranny with closer gears and then it would also require some tuning changes so that I could drag it. I just want to go as fast as possible in an Accord and live to tell about it I like track racing with twisties and hills more than I do dragging. I know the J32 can be bosted, but I've seen much better performance in general come from the C32. Part of that is because not many people are hooking up the J32, but I'd like to go with what is going to help accomplish my task and make a massive statement that "anything is possible". From what I have planned at this point, at least 80% of the body is going to be hand-laid carbon fiber. The front end is going to be one solid piece from the windshield forward and will be removeable. ALL the glass is getting replaced with Lexan. The interior is going to resemble a Nascar....totally stripped with only the bare essentials and all of that will be custom made. Since I will be doing speeds over 200mph, I don't want to shorten the suspension travel at all, so getting drop springs is out of the question, but I do plan to reshape the mounting points of where the suspension attaches so that I can tuck the suspension inside the fenderwell some more so the car will sit lower and still have the full suspension travel. Needless to say the suspension components will be upgraded, but I don't want any less travel than I have now. Brakes will definitely be upgraded and I might even swap over the NSX setup with computer controlled 4wheel disc. A parachute will also have to be added so that I can slow down in enough time. The gas tank is getting removed and replaced with a fuel cell that will be under the hood if it's mid engine, or in the back seat area if it's FWD. I'm trying to work out a deal so that I can get some time in a windtunnel to help me decide the body mods I want to do cause I'm not mking any changes unless I know it will help me accomplish my goal and serve a purpose. I'm also cutting about a foot and half off of the back of the car to make the rear wheel sit closer to the end of the car. It's going to have a full roll cage that will be integrated into the whole car. I'm either going to shave the sunroof area entirely (carbon fiber), or use it as a place to integrate a camera cause I gotta get some video of this thing in action when it's done! There's tons more I've been considering, and the plans still aren't definite, but I think I'm heading in the right direction. I think it's going to take about 3 years for me to finnish. I try to work on it when I get a chance, and I'll post up some pics of where it's at right now once my computer parts come in. Like I said, it's still not set in stone, so any feedback or suggestions are definitely welcome!
