    h22a4 swap

Hey guys i need some help i just got a good deal on a h22a4 swap and the ecu is out of a 98 prelude and i am doing my swap into a 96 accord. What i need to know is will the ecu work or is there a immobilizer on that. And if there is whats the best way to get it to all work in the car.

get the ECU off an american obd1 bb4 or japanese obd1 bb6/bb4. as for the PCM/ECU you got now, its got the emobilizer in it.

You need an OBD1 ECU. If you attempt to use the ECU from that car, you'll end up rewiring your entire car... not something I, or anyone else I know of, has ever cared to do.

Ok y would I have to rewire the whole car I am just trying to get around the immobilizer. Other than that the ecu is pretty the same as the 96 prelude p13. But my Honda buddy found out a way to make it work.

The word is "why". If you're too lazy to type two additional letters, then I'm not going to bother wasting my time on you. I'm not a child, and neither are you. Let's communicate as adults, shall we?

The ECU is OBD2. Therefore, the wiring would need to be OBD2. That ECU won't even plug into your current harness if you tried. It IS the same as the 96 Prelude ECU, because that is also OBD2. You want a P13 from a 92-95 Prelude. You CAN rewire everything, but it's not a great idea... and one mistake could cause a hell of a lot of headaches.

You'll still have to convert the H22A4 to OBD1, but that's a lot easier than converting the car to OBD2.

Nevermind, you're right. I missed that your car was a 96 (since this forum is for 90-93, I assume all questions in any area that is not "other automotive" apply to the 4th generation Accord, not any other model...)

So yes, that ECU will work just fine. No modification necessary to plug it in. As for the immobilizer, you may do better asking on a forum that actually deals with OBD2 issues, because the majority of the people here deal mainly with OBD1. Their solution to such an issue is just as I said above... use an OBD1 ECU and convert the engine to OBD1. That IS an option for you, as they do make OBD2 to OBD1 conversion harnesses...
