    mannual conversion question

alright im just making sure but to use the motor mount on the mannual tranny do you have to re weld the bracket "on auto cars" further toward the front side of the car towards the battery?

    #2
Im kinda wondering the same thing. Im currently putting my motor in, and i have the Accord bracket on the H tranny and when i go to put the damn thing in, the tranny mount looks like it wants to sit a few inches closer toward the front of the car then where the mount from my auto sat.

At first i thought maybe i just wasnt tilting and angling the motor enough, but i managed to get the drivers side mount, and front "dog-bone" mounted before i said to hell with it and yanked it out. Funny i found someone else messing with this at the same exact time as me. I dont know what to tell you Backfire, im wondering the same thing.

Yea you have to buy the mount that is actually in the engine bay along with the mount on the tranny.

        You confused me.

What "mount that is actually in the engine bay" are you talking about? On the transmission, there is only one bracket that bolts onto the transmission itself (transmission mount bracket from a manual Accord). There is only one rubber mount (transmission mount). Are you referring to the bracket that is actually welded to the car, from the factory, that the transmission mount is supposed to connect to? If you are, how are you supposed to buy that mount.... its welded to the car, its not a part you can pull at a yard and say "Hey, ...how much for this?"

i bought the bracket.. and i had NO idea where it goes... i gave it to a performance shop.. they were like "wtf.. waredo you put this at?" so they just made me a custom mount.. if anyone wants to buy the bracket ill sell it for 15 bucks.. it goes about 26 dollars at the dealership..

Yeah see thats the problem. I know where the bracket goes on the tranny. I have the Accord bracket on the tranny, and the mount in the bracket, all ready to be bolted to the bracket on the car, but when i go to line up everything, the damn mount is a few inches in front of the mount to the car, sitting closer to where the battery should be. I thought i wasnt doing someting right, but when i got the drivers side and the dogbone bolted up, i thought to myself....

"WTF, that tranny mounts WAY off, and the motor cant move/tilt back any more cuz the front mount and drivers side are bolted up already!"

This shits frustrating the hell out of me because i dont know anyone to weld it for me, if thats what needs to be done, and the sheer amount of time ive had to sit and wait on shit to come together just to get my car done.

remove the old automatic bracket from the side of the engine bay by drilling out the spot welds, install the motor by using the three other mounts (front back and driver side) and itll show you where exactly the tranny mount bracket should go. with the motor in, drop the new bracket into place over the mount, and tack weld the edges, take the motor back out, then finalize the welding. then put the motor back in

run a search for all of the auto to manual threads, ive talked abotu this quite a few times, and even posted pictures...

I have another question. I got my shifter cables from a prelude. When I went to mount them with the shifter, the little plate that seals the opening from inside the car doesnt match up and i cant screw it down. Also, the little bracket that secures it underneath is in the wrong place too. Do I have to use shifter cables from an accord?

i used lude shifter cables. i didnt get that square plate that holds the cables going thru the hole in the floor, so i just modified the automatic one with a hacksaw and dremel and it holds it in fine, then i covered it in silicone to make sure it sealed well. this is a custom job, improvise people

Ok, well I can deal with that. But now I am looking at the pedals I got too and the prelude pedals wont line up if i try to bolt them up, so i tried taking the brake pedal off and putting it in the automatic plate, and it doesnt line up right either

how off are the pedals? mine didnt line up perfectly with each other either, i figured one was just bent... i figured someday i would just swap the arms out for the accord ones but ive forgotten about it and they work perfectly how they are, so why bother.
