I have a jdm f22b SOHC and a DOHC motor. Neither are vtec. My question is can I swap the heads without any issues? My sohc has a bad block but good head and the dohc's head is uncertain. I want to throw the SOHC onto the DOHC block and call it a day and then figure out what to do with the leftovers.

So long as the water jackets match up. And the bores are the same you should be fine. And are you sure you have a JDM F22B? The F22B DOHC is JDM the SOHC F22B2 (Non-VTEC) is USDM. For future note.Originally posted by bseballkid1990 View PostI have a jdm f22b SOHC and a DOHC motor. Neither are vtec. My question is can I swap the heads without any issues? There were SOHC F22B engines in Japan also. Both VTEC and non-VTEC.
To answer your question, yes, they're the same thing. The timing components are not but the blocks themselves are. Your proposed swap would work just fine. In fact, because of the PT2 pistons in the F22B DOHC block, the same compression ratio that it has would now be present on the single cam creation.
However, the head bing "uncertain" is certainly no reason to scrap it. It's a MUCH better head than the SOHC F22B. Why don't you find out what, if anything, it needs? What makes you want to throw in the towel on it?My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

Isn't the H23's timing components similar to the F22B DOHC?Originally posted by Jarrett View PostThere were SOHC F22B engines in Japan also. Both VTEC and non-VTEC.

Also that does sound like a good build since the OP has the parts. I didn't take that into consideration! The CB7 Collector.Team Kindred Impulse Member #392 LX Coupe F22A12013 Toyota Corolla S92 EX Sedan F22A1Originally posted by deevergoteDo you really need to make a thread asking if having your car like this /---\ will cause uneven tire wear? They're not the same but it wouldn't matter as he has the entire F22B DOHC setup to take timing components from.My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!
