    intreting idea/problem

    Hi,

Really dumb question, I know you guys say that the REVLIMiter for the H22a in limp mode is 6.5k...Is it possible that my TAC is just "inacurate"? Because, even without the CEL comming on (I just have KS/EGR) which dont even come in till motor is warm.

The reason I ask is after resetting the ECU and just trying to rev, b4 motor is warm, it will only let me go to 6.5k. Is it possible that it's really going to 7.5k and my tac is just off?

    Thanks

If you're only reving the motor and not going anywhere then yeah VTEC won't engadge (even with no CEL's). I believe you have to be going 20-25mph in order for it to engadge.

that is correct. v-tech only engages above 25, because its supposed to only kick in when extra power is desired at the end of a gear. so i dont believe that your tach is off and nor is your ecu mis-porgrammed.

gentlemen...I wasn't asking about VTEC engage points. I was asking, if due to the CEL causing limpmode...and then the car 'not being" in limpmode and have the same rev limiter...if my tac could possibly be off.

        That was my question.

        Thank you.

not sure about your whole problem, but I do proclaim that you are a MORON for revving your car up to 6.5k while it is still cold. And people wonder why their motors blow

          when will the stupidity end?

also another requirement is that you have the right oil pressure, which you won't when your car is cold. Only after it is warmed up then you will have vtec and be able to rev to the limiter. As for just answering your question, no its very unlikely that it would read more then 1,000 rpm's lower. Most all I've seen are about 2-300 higher.

because those codes don't disappear, the computer knows they're there.......the light comes on because it triggers the light, but the computer still knows the codes are there.....until you fix it where you can drive it and the light doesn't come on, then you won't actually clear those codes
fizz, i've cleared the CEL's and the HELMS says to let the motor warm up 1st, because EGR/KS arn't even used untill that point.

I didn't know the ECU still "knew" it should be in limp mode w/o even needing the sensors.

              Thanks for the correction.

And btw,aero3685, I was wrong. What I ment was the motor was warm...then I reset the ECU and did a std KS test rev to 3-4k for 10seconds. No CEL, so then I tried to rev to 7k, no avail...only 6.5k.
              [edit]
There was no CEL while the motor wouldn't rev to 7...infact, it never reved past 6.5.
              [/edit]
Thanks though, I'm retarted and didn't know that about cold motors.
